Looking for a new 6.5 creed bullet

So I’ve been playing around with finding a load/bullet combination for my bergara hmr for a few years now. I’ve used H4350 with 140 amax/eldm and found good accuracy but couldn’t reach a decent velocity, I found similar results with 142 smk. Next I tried rl-16 with the eldm and got the velocity I was after and decent accuracy. Now I’m wanting a different bullet to play around with, I only casually shoot steel out to 1000 yards and just like tinkering around with load development. Taking the current bullet shortage out of the equation, what bullet/weight would you play around with? I’m not wanting the most expensive bullets or the cheapest option either.

I've had the 140 gr Bergers also shoot well in my 6.5 creedmoor. My muzzle velocity with my load is less than 2800 fps with a 20" barrel. You will never get impressive velocities from a 6.5 Creedmoor. If you want higher velocities, buying a 6.5 PRC or other caliber that allows more powder at reasonable pressures.

My rifle loved the Sierra 130 Game Changer. Notice the past tense word "loved". They're are like trying to find chicken lips now so I need to find another bullet myself. I think zr600 hit the nail on the head, whatever you can find.

I couldn’t get above 2650 before pressure sign with the 140 eld/amax and h4350, 2 types of brass with the same results, my rL-16 load gets me 2780 which is fast enough for me. Maybe my rifle doesn’t like h4350, I was just looking for another bullet to try once things start showing up again

The 140's yes. Sadly, my gun really prefers the 147's and they've been MIA for quite some time now

Are you looking for some Hornady 147gr ELD-M ?? If so PM me I know a place that has quite a few boxes of them in stock $39.90 per box.

I've been using superformance and Nosler brass to push the 140gr bergers. I do have some h4350 that I may try. I would like to try some RL16 but haven't seen any on the available to buy in over 2 years. It is kind of sad when you just have to use what you can find.

I'm surprised you didn't hit at least 2700 before seeing pressure signs. What barrel length do you have?

It’s with a 24” barrel, both hornady and starling brass, I would think 2700 wouldn’t be a problem but maybe it just doesn’t like h4350

Barnes 140gr Match Burner are a great choice. Very accurate, and decent BC. You can get them in 500 count boxes too which is nice

RL16 is a great Creed powder for getting a bit more velocity than you'll see from H4350. Another one to look at is Winchester's StaBALL 6.5

As you can see, H4350 is at the bottom of the list for velocity for max pressure
