Looking for East Texas Hog Hunting lease.

Figured this might be the best spot to post this.

A couple buddy's and I are looking for a east texas or maybe even Louisiana hunting lease to lease out together. All very respectful and ethical hunters willing to maintain or even better the property. Mainly interested in hunting hogs and coyotes maybe some deer. Looking for something maybe only a couple hundred acres that 3 or 4 of us could go in on together. Tired of dealing with 12 other people intruding on our hunts at our current lease. If anyone knows of someplace please contact me

The closest I come to paying for hunting hogs is not charging the landowner for every one I kill. If all you're interested in is hogs and coyotes, find a cattle operation and talk to the guy in charge. He'd probably be happy to let you kill all you want if you can convince him that you're not going to shoot his cows.

Not likely in East Texas.

well you see, we all work offshore so we dont get out all that much and most of our hog hunts are done under a feeder. And to be honest none of us are near the caliber of hunters most of you are. Were all from the north where we dont hav pigs. Thermals and night vision is out of the question also so driving around a ranch having much success at spot and stalk may not be for us.

Figured it was a long shot but thought maybe some locals in that area might know of something. Never hurts to ask...

Don't sell yourself short. [beeep], I didn't have hogs until a little over a year ago. I wish I didn't have any now. You don't need all that thermal and high tech stuff. I've killed 50 or so in a year just stand hunting or spot and stalking, half of them with a handgun, all through trial and error. Hogs are the least subtle animals around here when it comes to leaving sign.

Most places in East Texas are leased annually as deer leases. Even 40 or 50 acre places are often leased. That usually gives the person leasing the hunting rights all season.

If it is not leased for deer hunting it is because it is used by the owners, or they don't lease period.

The rest is leased for cattle, or hay.

The going rate in East Texas for a lease is about 6-10 dollars an acre.

If you have 200 acres you are not going to be able to call more than once or twice a month and have much chance of success. If you kill more than 2 bucks you are probably over harvesting.

You can kill a few pigs on something that small, but given a little pressure and they may be gone for 6 months.

If you are serious about wanting that kind of hunting, just go ahead and get on a deer lease. Most places have plenty of hogs, and getting on big lease gives you a little more access.

For instance. If you pay $10 and acre for 100 acres it cost you $1000 and you don't have a very big area to hunt. Get on a 5000 acre lease for the same $1000 and have more area to hunt depending on the rules of the particular lease.

The reason some people want to lease a little property is because they want to split the cost between several people. Say splitting that $1000 for a 100 acres and having 3 people hunting on 100 acres instead of 30 people on the 5000.

Nothing makes the neighbors mad like a group of guys crowding on a little property and then expecting to all kill a buck and 2 does apiece.

I too work offshore but international and i have been looking for a lease but the problem is critters get hungry and if you are not there to feed them you have a harder time getting their schedule for the last couple years i have been doing day hunts
