Looking for snow camoflage

Seems to be a lack of selection when it comes to snow camoflage. Any ideas on where to look, aside from cabela's? I'm looking for camo that's almost entirely white (need it for goose hunting as well as predator hunting)

Thanks in advance~

Walmart clothing department. White sweat pants and hooded sweatshirt. By the time you get a little dirt and blood on 'em you'll look just right. Buy size larger so you can wear extra clothing underneath.

At least that's what I got and there hasn't been a coyote spot me yet. Course I haven't seen any of them either, so maybe they're wearing it too!

Wait a minute...maybe it doesn't work that well and that's why I haven't seen anything.

Mallard, Unless the snow is really deep I do not like all white there is always brush or something showing through I wear Prairie Ghost snow camo and it is great my daughter when she goes with me wears a pair of white painter coveralls that I put black and brown sploches on and it look good also. the predator pattern also works well. If I was in the market for new camos I think I would get the Nat Gear . Just my opinion JC..........

go to an industrial supply and get some of the tyvec disposiable coveralls. they make excellent cheap camo. less than $5 and with a little care last a long time. we use them for snowgoose and predator hunting. to take the shine off new ones we throw them on the gound -- muddy is even better. scuff them up and get them dirty. since I use them for spraying and painting I buy them by the case and get them even cheaper.

I like the white Wall's brand of coveralls. They are non-insulated, six pockets and good quality. I found them in a sporting goods store. I prefer all white. Metal zipper instead of "always fail plastic ones". I throw the insulated cover alls on underneath them, for cold days.T.20

Well, I just got my new Nat Gear today and I love it, the pattern is just about right, I have seen some that have so much black and brown in them you can't seem to find the Snow, the nat gear has a nice balance, and the "tree" bark lines are blurred and faded out into the white so the colors blend better, I could not be any happier. NOW I just need some snow. WWW.NatGear.com the cabelas web site also offers natgear but it is about 20. cheaper ordering it directly from natural gear.

Mallard--just go to a search engine like www.google.com and type in "Prairie Ghost Camo" as your search string and you'll get lots of hits that tell you where you can buy that camo. Cabela's Snow Shadow is mighty good in the snow as well. Their insulated coveralls are extremely warm--so warm, that I can be out in -15º weather with a 5 to 10 mph wind and I don't need anything on underneath besides my hunting shirt and jeans. Many times, if you are exherting yourself, they are actually too warm.

For warmer weather, I wear some J.C. Penney's white coveralls over my insulated Advantage Camo coveralls. You can also buy all white, two-piece military surplus camo from many sources. Again, just do a searh for "white camo clothing" and you'll find lots of places to look through.

I'm with KM on this one, tyvec painter coveralls, less than 10 bucks, super liteweight, fit in large pocket and bring 'em out as needed.XXL fits over heavy clothes.I rarely use them, but there nice to have in pocket when i want to set-up in open areas with little/no cover.Grinr /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Go to www.sportsmansguide.com and do a search for snow camo and you can get two new german snow camo poncho's for about 15 bucks. Best deal on the market and it is excellent snow camo too. Or you can get the pants and jacket set for about 40 dollars if you want to spend some more. It's all I use.

Hey Mallard,
I'm with Bluedog on this one. Sportsman's Guide. I got those poncho's a while back. They work just fine over your existing hunting clothes.
And getting 2 means you got one for a calling buddy too.

I have made several sets over the years. You just get a couple of old sheets off the bed. Then take and use some flat gray and flat black spray paint on those sheets. Make a poncho out of them, were a white hooded sweat shirt underneath and your set. It is inexpensive and they last.

Mallard,
I use 3 kinds of snow camo, I have used predator whites for about 4 years and it works well for both duck and goose hunting and predators. Then I got a set of Prairie ghost whites that work well in sagebrush. Then I got some of the natgear whites and love it. This stuff works so darned well that it ain't funny.

point is that all the above works well and you have to figure out what ones you like better. I will say that if price is your concern go with natgear...

good luck

Thanks to all! Just what I was hoping for. Darn nice looking site, and very helpful folks.....may have to pull up a chair. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I agree with Blue dog get a mil surplus poncho in german snow camo or the all white poncho, it is sold in Cabela's or sportsmens guide and its cheap. I have some natgear snow camo and if there is a lot of snow like we have now it is to dark, it is at least 50 % dark brown works good in blotchey snow conditions BUT so dose german snow camo at 1/3 the pricce.

The best I have ever found are from the Army Surplus store. Jacket /pants combo that easily slips over whatever you are wearing. They are all white - you will need to camo as you see fit

For Winter camo in snow covered woods I will usally use Propper M-65 Field Jacket & BDU pants in "Urban Camo". I find this pattern works the best when huntting in snow covered wooded areas. This pattern is available at most surplus stores for a reasonable price.

For more 'Open' country or after a snow storm where the snow sticking to the trees and such, (white-out conditions) I will wear Solid White cover-up shells. My web gear & pack breaks up my shape a little. I also use solid white parka for super cold days.

Solid white 'shells' (Jacket & Pant) go for about $20 at Gander Mountain. Also check at http://www.sportsmansguide.com too. They always have 'solid white' in several different style jackets.

Those who use bed sheets or poncho's, get rid of them. Get something that you actualy wear. Those baggy sheets get snagged on every bush, branch and thorn in the woods. For about $20-30 you can get a good set of 'cover-ups' or 'shells' that tighter to your body. It's well worth the $$.
