Looking for some one with old manuals for 222 rem mag load data

I just got my long looked for 222rem. mag in a Rem. 722 and now I need some loads for it I hope to be shooting 40gr blitzkings out of it but am open to some 50gr loads as well. Any info would be great I have already got the Hodgdon data looking for some other loads like for 10x benchmark etc etc as they are not listed. any help would be appreciated. First trip to the range today close to 30mph wind and it still grouped a inch with random test loads of H-335 I was very happy ! Shows great promise now I just wanna find another stock for so I do not wreck this one while hunting.

I have an old set. Its Sierras 3rd edition, in Binder form. It also lists the old powders of that current time. 335 made the list. For the 335 it shows 26.0 @ 3200 fps, and the Max load is 28.2 @ 3500

For 50 grn, it shows 25.2 @ 3000 fps and a Max of 27.4 @ 3300 fps.

Thx olfart ! The hodgdon site lists 335 at a max of 30gr for 40gr bullet odd that a old book would be lower than new load. That was in the days of minimal lawsuits and hot loads ! lol

If you purchase a Rem 40x they send along two 5 shot test target and the load would be 26gr/IMR-4895 with 52g bullet. In Nolser #1 manual 25gr/IMR-4895 52/55 gr was most accurte loaded tested with that powder manual # 6 they list 26gr/IMR-4895 as most accurate velocity @ 3370fps.

I know some other powders meter better but that load of 26gr/IMR-4895 has shoot very good in my 722 222mag. I've never shot 40gr so cann't help with a load but if I was going to I'd start with 25.5/N-133 max @ 27.5gr that powder works good in my 223AI.

I have a number of good 50 grain bullet loads for my 222 Mag's. Just curious, do you have a preference as to which powders you'll be using? And what primers will you use?
There are so many GREAT 50 grain bullets available now, and I can supply loads based on bullets you want to use. The 40 grain Blitz is THE most accurate 40 grain bullet I tested using H-335.

I use Federal small rifle match primers.

The powders I have on Hand are H-335 Benchmark Re-loader 10x IMR 4895 IMR 4198 and IMR 3031 I think that is is for small rifle powsers then I have the more swift suited like 4064 H-380 etc etc. Leads I have

(40gr Sierra Blitzking and Berger Varmint match)

(50gr V-max Nosler BT and Berger Varmint)

I am just looking for fur friendly accurate load for shots out to 250yrds to max 300 Thx for any help ya can give me it is appreciated.

Just loads easy on the gun don't wanna hurt the old girl LOL

I USE 19 GR. OF IMR 4198 AND A 50 GR. HORNADAY V MAX. I GOT THE LOAD FROM A GUY THAT USED IT IN A 40X CUSTOM RIFLE AND IT WORKS AWESOME IN MINE

That is a standard 222 Rem load, not a 222 Rem Mag load. I think that for the 222 Mag a powder charge of around 21 grains is best, with 50 grain bullets. But, I'll have to check to make sure.

I'll go through all of my targets and find what loads I used that match your component list, using Fed 205M's.

Tested loads today best performer so far has been 29.5 gr of h-335 and 40 gr Berger varmints. Grouped around 1/2" at 100 yrds blitzkings at loads I tried today where nasty gonna try lower charges on them next and other powders I hope I can get them to shoot. With the Berger load it is close to max on hodgdon site but no signs of pressure even at the 30 gr max they list. Thx to all that have replied so far!!!

I have a speer # 11 from 1987/88
It list for 40g spire point
Sako 23 3/4 barrel 1/12
CCI 400 primers
IMR 4064 26.0g start 3255--- 28.0 max 3428
IMR 3031 25.0g start 3370---27.0max 3622
IMR 4198 21.5g start 3251---23.5gmax 3540
and for 50g spitzer
IMR 3031 24.5g start 3149---26.5g max 3396
IMR 4198 21.0 start 3132---23.0g max 3415

and with CCI 450 mag primers
H335 26.5g start 3243---28.5g max 3514

Keep in mind that a particular powder can change from one lot to another. The lots of powder that were used to develop data thirty or forty years ago very possibly had different burning characteristics than current lots of the same powder. Start low and work your way up.

royboy, that's what I was thinking. Manitobamonster, why would you not want to use current data, for current formulations of powder, bullets, etc.?

Current data is not so easy to come by that is what my current Load is is off hodgdon website. Picked up a new Lyman book today it has more current data. Slow going but I am slowly getting some current data just want to compare it to older loads as well but I am also interested in any current data you folks may have.

Winchester 7th edition from 1981:

I am going testing the 50gr leads today with IMR 4895 H-335 BLC2 got loads done in v-max and Nosler BT. this will give me a better idea which lead my gun is going to like anyway. Also gonna try bunch of 50's in my Swift today. So should be a fun day at the range

I have three manuals that list loads for 222 Mag. A Hogdons manual, a Speer Manual and a Nosler manual.. let me know what powder and bullets and I'll post the data..
I may also have an old Sierra manual, if I can find it..

Nosler for 50gr ballsitic tip if you could please. H-335 IMR 4895 N133 BLC2 maybe Benchmark or 10x but have not had much luck finding loads for the last 2 powders

Today the shining start was 27gr of 4895 with 50gr v-max. But I am sure I can still do better. next best was same lead 26.5 gr H-335

From Nosler Fith Edition.

IMR 4895 Start 22.5 High 24.5 @ 3100 fps. Thier results show the start load more accurate.

BL_C2 Start 23.0 High 25.0 @ 3212 fps High was their best load in test rifle.

H 335 not listed. Listed was H 322

N133 not listed. Listed was N 120

Other powders not listed as well.

Good luck.
