Looking for some one with old manuals for 222 rem mag load data

I sifted through all of my range notes for data using the Federal 205M primers, and only came up with a couple of good loads using those primers. Most of my excellent groups were shot with Winchester WSR and Rem 7 1/2 primers. Don't know if you have access to any of these primers, but, if you want loads using them, just PM me asking for the data. I do have some decent loads using the Fed 205's, only with TAC powder, which you're not using.
Here's the only loads that shot well with the Fed primers, only using H-4895 powder.
26.5 grains of the H-4895, and 40 grain Blitz and 50/52 grain bullets, too many to mention. Like every bullet I tested shot well. These were all of the 50 and 52 grain Bergers (4 of them) and Speers (3 of them), and the 50 Nosler BT, all shot well.

Today the shining start was 27gr of 4895 with 50gr v-max. But I am sure I can still do better. next best was same lead 26.5 gr H-335

The manual does not show data for a 50 Gr Ballistic Tip... Prolly cause they didn't make one back then.. I have data for a 50 Gr spitzer, and HPBT. The only powders you asked about that are listed are IMR 4895 and BLC2. Here's the data:

Primers are Rem 7-1/2

IMR 4895
start load = 24.5
max load = 26.5

Max load is shown as most accurate tested.

For BLC2:
Start load = 25.5
Max load = 27.5

Most accurate load for BLC2 as tested is 26.5 Grs.

My manual is from 1976

Nosler makes custom loaded 222 Mag ammo for Midway. Their load is 26.5 grains of H-4895, Winchester WSR primers, and their 50 grain BT bullet. After buying a box of 50 from Midway, and shooting it, I called Nosler and they provided me with the load info. That load shoots as well as any other load I've tested in my 222 Mag. It also shoots with the same accuracy in two of my 223's.

Some targets shot with the H-4895 powder. The 4th pix down is with TAC powder for comparison. The Red dots are 1" in dameter. Groups are 5 shots for the top target, and 3 shots for the others.

Mm...i have the same concerns posted by royboy & 1stpitch regarding "old" loads...remember their testing equip in the 60's thru even 90's isn't as accurate as they hav today and powders evolve-even with same labeling...my sako triple deuce mag is my every day coyote rifle (well,99.5%)...remember-what works in 223 rem will work in 222mag...222mag has about 4% more load capacity then the 223 so top end 223 data is easily safe in 222mag...after all,a 222mag is just a lengthened 223rem with a longer neck...

I picked up some H-4895 powder today gonna try and get the results you did using it LOL. Only reason I was asking for old data was lack of new data avail. I agree is it outdated loads but when I first started with this gun I was having trouble finding more recent data now that I have found more recent data thanks to you folks and picking up bunch of manuals and web research I am only using current load data.

Just a couple of thoughts that I didn't cover before.
I seat bullets .010 off the lands, and the above groups were shot that way, except for the 5 shot initial group. That group was shot with Nosler's factory ammo as received, and their 50 NBT's were seated way deep in the neck. If fact, they were seated just below the ogive and there was a slight gap around the case neck mouth. I don't know why they seated them that deeply, but they did shoot pretty well. Later, I reseated the factory loaded bullets so they were .010 off the lands, and got improved accuracy.
One other point is, I seat all of my bullets for all cartridges I load for with Wilson Straight Line seaters, or custom made seaters similar to Wilson's. I think it helps.

Good luck! I think the 222 Mag is an outstandingly accurate round, and certainly has a better case design than the 223.

I have a 222mag in a Sako Vixen, as my main coyote rifle.

I do what ChappedLips does, use reloading data for the 223 and slightly increase it.

from a 1970 speer manual...
40grn spire point...RL11 (eleven)-start 25.5(3477fps)/max 27.5(3695fps)...
45grn spitzer...RL11(eleven)-start 25.5(3378fps)/max 27.5(3606fps)...
50grn spitzer....RL11(eleven)-start 25.0(3198fps)/max 27.0(3498fps)

Today proved productive testing Viht. n133 and 40gr berger. Fairly consistent .3 groups at 26grs of powder. Was using remington 71/2 primers groups opened up after that but where still under .5 at 26.5 grains. Another load for you folks to try anyway thought I would share. To bad N133 is next to impossible to find up here

Thanks for the posting.
I'll be saving that load as I have a 2 pound jug of n-133.
I also have some Rem 7 1/2's too, along with CCI BR4's and Fed 205M's. I load up some loads using all of these primers.
