Looking to build a custom rifle

Hey guys,

I'm considering a build in 300 WSM. New to this game (I've dabbled myself, rebuilding/upgrading 10/22s, trigger swaps, optics, etc.) but never done a full on custom build.

I'm not necessarily stuck on them, but I have an idea on the components I think I'd like to use; Defiance action, Bartlein barrel, McMillan or Manners stock, Timney or Jewell trigger, etc.

Looking for input on a good smith who could put it together for me, or maybe you have worked with someone who's reasonably priced and puts together a quality "package" rifle. I live in Northern Utah, so someone not too far would be nice, but I could work with someone via shipping too. I found a guy who builds pretty much exactly what I want and is reasonable, but he has a backlog of over a year, and although it's with good reason I just don't want to wait that long!

And any and all input (good or bad) on the parts I mentioned or others that you recommend, who to consider, who to avoid etc is appreciated.

Give "204farr" a shout here on PM, Cody's Custom Guns. He is in UT. He has never done any work for me but am sure a few guys will come along that he has. His stuff looks nice and appears to shoot as well. I would not hesitate to have him do work for me.

I would run my parts list and what you want to build by your gunsmith
There have been things I wanted to try only to find out it may not be the best route after talking to my smith
