that does not include a BCG i think

With BCG they are $335. The price is nice, but their barrel life is pretty low AFAIK. They aren't made to be a "precision" barrel or chamber apparently.

Yes, it does include BCG.

And don't be to quick to knock the barrel. I personally know some guys and have heard of others that are getting very respectable groups with these uppers. Right around 1" (with off the shelf ammo). They will out shoot the average shooters capabilities.

I would say once they are broke in,they will shoot comparible with like uppers...i would not shy away from the jse IMO.....X

I don't have any first hand experience myself. One of my employees has one of their carbines and likes it, but that's pretty much what he told me in terms of barrel life/trade-off in cost. I haven't felt the need to dig real deep into barrel life expectancy or any type of research out there.

I just posted an item on this subject on another thread... I tried to put together the lowest cost AR that I could with the Plum Crazy lower and an upper from JSE Surplus.. The one I got had a "Bulldog" barrel and the whole rifle was under $500...

With military hardball, it produces decent groups at 50 yards

and I added a used Simmons Aetec 2.8-10x scope for $50 and couldn't be happier with the rifle for a plinker...While it doesn't match my custom or upgraded ARs, I didn't expect that kind of precision...

It's a full pound lighter than my 16" DPMS...

We own three of the DSA uppers and all three will consistently ring a 16 inch disc blade at 250 yds with open sights, not sure what it would do with a scope yet. so far I am extremely pleased, we bought them for $275 last spring without BCG. Customer service leaves quite a bit to be desired but their product is great IMO. If you're not worried about punching paper at 500 or a 1000 yds, I'll bet money about anything out there you buy from anyone reputable will do what you want it to. Besides everyone needs at least one AR, although it won't stop there more than likely.

Thanks guys. I just snagged up a plum crazy lower from a guy on here so now its just waiting til tax return time to buy the upper. Ill throw a cheap 4x scope that i have here on it for now and then start saving for a nice scope.

I too will attest to the JSE upper. I bought one for my plum crazy and have been more than pleased. I've put over 2000 rounds of 223 and at least another 3000 22lr with a cmmg conversion. The next part people will question but I have not cleaned it yet because I want to see what it will take for it to fail. So far I've had some hiccups from the 22lr using bulk boxes from Walmart but those were duds and low velocities that failed to fire or eject. .223 and 5.56 have been flawless. At $352 shipped to my door it can't be beat.

I have two DTI uppers in 5.56 & I'm waiting on a 7.62x39. I have to say; for the money there is none better. I have a CMMG that is very nice 6.8 as well. But DTI is the best value.
