Anyone on here ever use Lucus Oil Gun Cleaning products on their firearms? I've read some comments on some online sites, and they all make the stuff sound good. However, I don't know if this is just internet trolls making the product look good.

I have used the oil both gun and vehicle/ motorcycle. They make a very quality product. I really like it and will be trying their cleaning products in the near future.

I use lucas products for my cars and trucks.

Oils used for guns has had extensive testing.

Rated #1 is Hornady One Shot

Rated #2 is Frog lube

I have had a nice Rossi single shot 12ga sprayed with the Hornady One shot standing in the corner of my hay barn for 6 months, there is no rust on it. I bought 4 more cans. I live in very humid area of the country, and my hay barn has open doors on it, not air tight or sealed.

Brother uses Frog lube because he found it locally, he has had no problems.

Previously, I had been using Eezox. This product is good, but in the tests, it failed the rust test with twenty others within about 7 days, While the Hornady and Frog lube was still protecting at 60 days where the guy doing the test ended the test.

I used Rem oil, Browning gun oil, for years, then Eezox was much better. This Hornady One Shot product is in a class by its self, and that is an understatement!

Lucas has got it's work cut out for it. Do your own test with the Lucas oil. Spray a nail with brake cleaner and let it evaporate. Then spray with your own favorite oil, sit outside and monitor it every day. Get ready for a shock. WD-40 failed first.

Weapon Shield was like #3. One shot has a huge list of warnings on it about being toxic. For me, that leaves frog lube and weaponshield.

Frog lube and Weaponshield are probably not sold in Ca. thus avoid the warnings, many companies use this technique of marketing.

Frog lube is outstanding according to my brother and cousins who love to hunt in the rain.

Our gunsmithing school gives everyone Lucas gun oil and hoppes #9 cleaner. Best at the cheapest price. That said, I prefer Hornady oneshot. Even have the muzzleloader variety for my hawkin.

this might help you make a decision on to what to use on your firearms - great product testing

as a personal expierence i can say to careful with frog lube, if not used as advised it can cause some issues to our firearms

most notably it can gum up over time - like long term storage, think months - and may require full removal and reapplication for a firearm to function.

this is especially true if you apply it like a typical lube and slather it on heavy without wiping the excess off - or just miss wiping the excess off a critical part.

i've had friends whos AR's were pretty much useless after a winter in the safe because of that little opps. They heard all the good stuff about it, got some, and treated it like a regular lube - with less than spectacular results. Yes it was user error, but its something to think about.

PErsonally I was a rem oil guy most of my life, but have since switched over to Hornady One Shot. I also like G96 for quick cleanups.

i typically clean my gun parts with Non chlorinated Brake cleaner & a brush to get all the schmoo (yes thats the scientific term for it) off, and then lube when everything is all clean.

Anything that can go into my ultrasonic does as it rocks for softening up stubborn carbon deposits. And since i shoot suppressed a lot - read "as often as possible" - some of those stubborn spots can be extra stubborn.

Then it all gets sprayed down liberally with One Shot and then reassembled.
