Just received this product. The focus ability is great. You can zoom it all the way down to almost the size of a laser and very bright. Anyone try to use this as an ir aiming laser instead of a ir luminator, maybe with a pvs14? Very bright and has the ability to adjust elevation and windge, plus picatinny mount. Paid $369.00 with free shipping on amazon. After I play with it somemore and I will give you some feedback. I am hoping it will take a shotgun recoil.

We just purchased one of these units for evaluation purposes and will probably be adding them to our product line sometime this year. So far I am very pleased with the performance of this unit. It can be used as a standard IR illuminator with a variable focus adjustment from about 5 degrees to the size of a laser beam. They have a windage/elevation adjustment similar to a laser sight so it can be used as an IR laser sight as well. Only downside is they are a class 3b laser product and are not eye safe. Users must treat them as a loaded gun once the battery is installed and remove the battery when not in use. This is a very good value product for an IR laser device. Capable of illuminating targets out to 1000 or more yards. Retails for 369 to 400 price range. Kevin

I have the same one as in your photo. It's the older model, but a darn good one, and to my
understanding, probably as good as you can get for the money. I know two other guys who
have them also and they love them. Great illuminators, even for a Gen 1 scope it helps.

I have a visible laser that we use on a shotgun and the Luna has the exact same adjustment mechanizm (small hex key adjustment). I would guess for shotgun it should hold a zero since you have a large pattern to work with. That said, we have not tested it for that particuar function yet but will probably do so this year.

It is just a safety precaution much like you would unload your high powered rifle when not using it. This particular unit must be treated as if it is a loaded gun once the battery is installed. It would be easy for a child to pick it up, take the cap off and turn it on. When they can't see any light emiting from the end they will probably look in to see what's up and that would cause some permanent eye damage. They are listed as 3B lasers which are very dangerous especially when the focal adjustment is narrowed to the size of a laser beam. I can't stress that enough...when not in the field using it, remove the battery. Kevin

fyi the luna ir with the picitanny mount...make sure you locktite the two screws that hold the picitanny mount to the ir laser. mine came loose today after 50 rounds. This ir is great. You can adjust the brightness level and windage. Luna says they are coming out with a pressure switch in 3 months, but the spir will be here soon.

Being new to NV, this is a learning process. I've been researching IR illuminators and I'm seriously looking at this unit to purchase. I have a PS 22 with the ATN 450 IR illuminator. Now that our snow is gone, I have to use the IR illuminator. In thick stuff, animal identification is limited to 100 to 130 yards, or less depending on weather conditions.

Great unit. But needs a pressure switch which they say is coming...you might want to wait for the spir. That will have the pressure switch. I have mine mounted on front and if you are hunting over bait its a pain to reach forward and turn on and off every 15 min or so.

Recently I was told the Luna laser illuminator is no longer available in the 90 mw version. I'm hearing the new one is nowhere near as good or powerful.

Anyone else hear about this? I've Googled trying to find it and can't.

I would stay away from ebay for this product. Plus that looks like the luna model without the picitanny rail. I would get an eagle tac ir light first from illuminationgear.com to see if it works with your hunting style then move up to a luna which costs way more. plus before buying the luna i'd wait to see if the spir ir light is better which should be out soon from TNVC.

The EBAY add says the "brand" is dipol

I would call luna customer service and see if they sell there product under a different name.

Yes currently they are out of stock.
We are a distributor of the Luna LN-ELIR-3 and they have not provided us with a date of when more will be available.

Company is now saying the new ones might be available by the end of June. They apparently are waiting approval by the FDA
