Lyman Digital Borecam

Has anyone here gotten one and used it? There's a couple good
reviews at Midway USA, but that's about the only good input
I have found.

I sure would like to look through one. I have wanted a bore scope for years but could not bring myself to part with $800 for a Hawkeye. If these are anywhere near as good as I hope they are I just might have to get me one. Trouble is, I will have to keep quiet about it or my shooting buddies will all be wanting to borrow it (for free, of course) after I spend my money buying one! You know how that goes.

Not that it helps a tremendous amount but Gradient Lens offers a differently packaged Hawkeye now, instead of coming in the lockable hard case they package them in cardboard....that will save you $150 according to the email I got from them around a month ago.

I thought the same thing until I bit the bullet and got mine...I can tell you that you will find yourself using it a lot more than that in a month!!! There isn't a week that goes by I don't have mine stuck down some barrel. You can also use it to look at a lot of other things, such as cartridge cases, shotgun barrels, magazine tubes, revolver cylinders, etc.
I have not looked at one of the new Lyman devices, but I would like to.

One thing I can't seem to find in the ads for the Lyman scope is what the magnification is....the Hawkeyes are 10X I wonder how the Lyman compares?

I agree on the price being high for Hawkeyes.....luckily I have access to them when needed from work because there's no way I can see myself buying one.

I just had a guy ask me if I would be interested in going in halves on a lyman
bore scope.

I just couldn't do it because he'd insist that it be kept at his house, and if
I wanted to use it it would probably be loan out to one of his friends.

Would be handy to check the barrel once in awhile

Out of curiosity, what kind of pictures are you getting with a borescope? I mean quality wise, examples if you can would be nice.

Can't find it, either. However, at least in their ad, it
appears that lands and grooves can be easily seen. The
latest review on the Midway site also shows a photo in which
the magnification is sufficient to show "chatter" marks in
the bore. Although the guy gave it 5 stars, he did complain
somewhat that resolution is only 320x240. It looks good enough
for my needs. I also like the idea of it fitting in my .204's!
I have a couple of problem rifles in which everything else
checks out and would like to see what's going on inside the
bore & chamber. All others, just to satisfy curiosity. Link

Heck, that's just a cheap model. They have one which has a five
inch monitor, takes videos and has a multitude of other
features.......just under (only) $9G!! I would lose sleep
over worrying about the health of my testicles if my wife
found out about spending that much money for anything "guns"!!

Tell your buddies to come over to your house to check their
bores........"It ain't leavin' my property!" Been there, done
that, had to go retrieve my stuff myself. Why is it so easy
to come here to "borrow" something, but sooooo difficult to
bring it back??

I got a few rifles that have double that invested and only get hunted a few times per year.

There was a guy over on accurate shooters that got one of the early ones that came out & he posted pics, they looked good. Then Lyman had a recall and he sent it back & refunded. All the ones that bought them sent them back from the infoi they posted. I recall it being a software issue, so nothing was sent out until they worked on it more.
Here is a post w/a pic from 6mm site.
