M15 BCG OR M16 BCG QUESTIONS?

I'm trying to educate myself here. When do you feel there is a need to use a M15 BCG over a M16 BCG or the other way around? Is there an advantage of one over the other? Does one or the other determine the weight of the buffer to use or the strength of the spring to use? All the combinations can be quite confusing. Lastly, does a good adjustable gas block solve most all issues with cycling, gas, bolt bounce, etc.? Sorry for all the questions but that's how you learn. Thanks,
JD

M16 gives a bit more cartidge seating energy and delays the opening of the action while the pressures are still high. This often helps in swipes etc. on over-gassed guns.

Same buffers/springs

The adjustable is a good way for tuning assuming you have enough gas going through it. Most companies tend to overgas for reliability and this is where the AGB will help you out. IT can help in bolt bounce and will broaden the choice of powders you use compared to the standard type. Be aware that some companies do drill ports on the small side so a drill bit may help you at times in setting up either gas block.

Heck I didn't even know there was a difference.I really don't think there is. I have never seen a BCG designated as being specific for a M-16 or any other AR. I have seen them listed as light, or full auto, or some other thing. I never pay any attention. I just buy the one on sale at JoeBobs or Palmetto State Armory. Of course if you are talking about the M-16 or the AR-10 (308 cal) a different story.

In the AR15 platform they are interchangeable. But if you want full auto fire a semi carrier wont work, its not compatible with the FUN parts.

Most everyone ports their barrels so they function with every ammo you might buy. Meaning the cheapest least powerful ammo, so many guns are over gassed especially the cheaper stock guns they build for sale. The heavier BCG helps with this issue
