M91 Mosin Nagant

Awesome guns! 1" is the norm for 100 yard accuracy with this one. The Timney trigger upgrade is a huge plus as well.

Im going to the gunshow tomorrow in hopes of picking one up!!! Is there anyway to verify that the receiver, barrel, and stock are all original??? Hoping for a tula or izhevsk make. Are there any other major things to look for other than the normal when buying used???

More info and pics are greatly appreciated! ! The pics thus far have been great!!

More info and pics are greatly appreciated! ! The pics thus far have been great!! If you are looking at the Mosins the Tulas will have a hex receiver and the Issy will have a round receiver . The bolts , receivers and magazine boxes all have serial numbers and it's nice if they all match . Most of these have been re arsenalled at some point so the serial numbers may not match . The bolts can mechanically adjust headspace so bolt swapping is not an issue if the numbers do not match and most times a headspace gauge is with the gun and are easy to obtain online . The Tulas are more sought after and Laminated stocks go for a little more also. Keep in mind that Dunhams sells these from 79.95 to 175.00 locally depending on the particular rifle locally here in Michigan .
 
The most improtant thing to look for is good rifling at the muzzle. Some of the rifles were poorly cared for and due to improper cleaning the muzzle are quite worn. Some were counter bored to clean up the rifling. If you can see good rifling at the counter bore it'll probably shoot OK. Much better to find one that has sharp crisp rifling at the muzzle and then work on the rest of if you feel the need.

There are web sites that describe how the bed the actions and tune the triggers but I prefer to leave mine mostly as is. If you came across a good one they can be excellent shooters with good ammo most of the imported military stuff is junk and is corrosive.

I misread the website, my gunshow wont be here in town 2 months. Until then, I'm gonna look online and call around.

I have done HOURS upon Hours of research and pretty well know what I'm looking for.

I do have another question in regards to a refurbished 91/30.
When they say it has been re-arsenaled does this mean by the original factory or buy the US importer?
 
The re-arsenaled is more than likely by one of the communist block countries. Most of the original arsenals are probably long gone.
