Making .17 Remington brass?

Matt

You can make it out of .223.

It comes up about 20 thou short, but that is not a problem, and will not hurt anything - the advantage is that you can use Lapua cases.

Catshooter,

Did you use form dies when you did that? Or did you just size it with a standard FL size die incrementally?

Hey Travis.

I have made it before just running a lubed case into my .223 FL dies. As Catshooter said, they are a bit short and not a lot of neck gripping the bullet but it works. I have never had any Lapua brass to try it with though. Stuff too expensive for me.

You ran your .223 brass into your .223 die and made .17 Remington's? Grin....

(Just kidding of course. I know what you meant)

Thanks,
Travis

I have used my 17 Mach IV forming dies and ended with the 17 Rem FL die, and have used 222 dies without the expander, there are many ways to do this.

I need a proof reader I guess. What I meant to say what that I would run .223 Remington brass through my .50 BMG sizing die to make .17 Rem out of it.

Silly me! Glad you caught it!
