Making a coyote vomit?

I called one in 2 nights ago to about 75 yards. He was standing looking straight at me when I took the shot. I'm a bit new with juggling a thermal monocular with my NV scope, but couldn't see for a second or so after the shot so wasn't sure if he was down or not. Got the thermal back up and didn't see anything laying there. When I walked up to where I thought he had been standing I looked for blood with the flashlight. I got a bit confident when I saw some chunks of meat, hair and thick globs of blood. About 10 feet to the side was another handful of meat/hair and stringy stuff, then a little farther I found more hair and a little heart and some little intestine..so looking closer I noticed the hair was rabbit hair and chunks were little rabbit meat with bones etc.... So, I'm guessing the shot merely scared him enough to up-chuck his latest meal and take off. This was adjoining an apple orchard so I looked up and down the rows for a half hour with my thermal and flashlight not finding anything. There was enough snow on the ground and I found no blood other than those three spots with globs of meat/bone/hair. Anyone have this happen before? Think it was simply an escape mechanism or could it mean a hit and I just couldn't find any evidence after looking?

This exactly. Guarantee the scenario didn't play out like you think it did.

I drove under a turkey vulture one time and he hurled rotten coon meat all over my truck in mid July. Dang that stunk, by the time I got to a water source to wash it off it was baked on. Some critters will hurl when stressed.

Yes, that vomiting is a defense mechanism for turkey vultures. When I was about 13 a buddy and I did something dumb, my friend shot a vulture. It was wounded and flopping around and we closed the distance to finish it off. My friend got a few feet away and that thing wretched all over him. Holy cow that was nasty! Not sure I've ever laughed harder in my life. Of course my bud wasn't so amused.

To the coyote question, stomach and gutshot is the answer.

LOL yes. Shot a yote not too long ago and it spurted out a glob of something. It ran about 10 yards and piled up. Saw the vomit area with my thermal thinking it was blood but when viewed with a flashlight it was all clear fluid. My guess is getting wacked with a 50gr VMAX could cause some kind of vomit response.

Pretty sure a video of Hillary or Nancy could get it done.
