Mannlicher Stock

Need some help here. I've the chance of a Mannlicher Luxus .243 full stock. The only problem is, the stock is broke at the pistol grip, clean in two.

I'm in the UK, I've tried over here to obtain a replacement, but they are talking telephone numbers £££$$$.

Could you recommend a dealer in the USA, who would ship to the UK, that could supply one of these stocks.

Just weighting up the odds on this rifle, if it's going to be to much money, I'll sack it, & look else where.

Cheers,
Hollowpoint 22.

I've ben watching your post and wondering why no one has had any information..... Please forgive my ignorance..... But..... What is a "Mannlicher Luxus .243 full stock"? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif I know what "mannlicher", ".243" and "full stock" are - but I have no idea what they mean when they're all put together with "Luxus" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif ..... I'm kind of a basic bread-and-butter, steak-and-potatoes sorta firearms person! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks!
me!

P.S.
I don't know about having your tasmanian devil pearched menacingly over the head of my squeeky!

I don't know if I can be of help or not, but as I understand it styer sort of went broke and closed shop. Now it is supposed to be in business again, but I haven't heard where. Bad news is that they probably won't honor any kind of a warranty, and will charge you an arm and a leg for a new stock. Good news is that this kind of a break is really easy to repair. It takes a few minutes of close work, but isn't hard. Drill a hole in both parts about as deep as you can make it. Make the hole at least 1/2" in diameter. Then bury a threaded rod in epoxy (acraglas works for me) coat the break with more of the epoxy and clamp the 2 halves together. Wipe the surface off with a rag full of vinegar to clean off the excess glue off the surface. Let it sit for a day or 3 to really firm up. THen you'll have to do a bit of cosmetic work on the finish, but the stock will hold together.

Butch & ME,
Thanks for the reply's. Copy/Paste the links below, it will show you the state of the stock, plus a Picture of the rifle.
I'll be able to get this rifle pretty cheap, I noticed a couple of websites in America advertising this type of stock, & I've e-mailed them, but until now I've had no replys.
See what you think, like I say , if it's going to be to much trouble etc, I'll knock it on the head, & get a CZ 550 full stock the same.

Cheers,

Anyone besides me old enough to remember Johnny Horton's "Battle of New Orleans" from wa-a-ay back in 1959?

We looked down the river and we see'd the British come.
There musta been a hundred of 'em beatin' on the drum.
They stepped so high and they made their bugles ring.
We stood beside our cotton bales and didn't say a thing.

We fired our guns and the British kept a-comin'.
There wasn't near as many as there was a while ago.
We fired once more and they began a-runnin'
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico.

We-el-l they ran through the briars and they ran through the brambles.
'N they ran through the bushes where a rabbit couldn't go.
They ran so fast that the hounds couldn't catch 'em
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico.

Thank goodness the British didn't leave us alone..... We'd all still be listening to Johnny Horton if they hadn't sent over yet another invasion in the form of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones and Herman's Hermits! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
