Cuban in an interview was saying that Trump isn't even close to being in the ballpark of having enough actual cash money to fund a run for office. In fact the way he put it is that Trump is groveling to billionaires looking for major funding, having contacted Cuban asking for support. Ouch, that would have to hurt someone like Trump to be painted as groveling to a fellow magnate. Apparently having some insight into what the Donald is actually worth he has taken exception to the Trump's claims that he is wealthy enough that he is self funding, Cuban sees this as a misleading lie to even infer to gullible people that he has enough money that he doesn't need money from anyone because he will pay for his own campaign. Cuban figures Trump's real world worth is $200/$250 million tops, and that is not the kind of money that is readily available as in cash, campaigns need cash.
There have been many truly wealthy people that have in fact paid hundreds of millions of their own money, Ross Perot being one, Meg Whitman spent at one point over $200 million in her run for governor, she got a bonus leaving Ebay of $700 million cash. Cuban says he could write a check for a billion dollars and not notice it was gone, he could fund a campaign.
He says the claim by Trump that he is self funding is a ludicrous lie. The GOP is apparently going to test Trump's resolve and willingness to shell out money from his own pocket, they say that they are broke in terms of funds (have none for his race in response to Hillary), that they are committed to dozens of senate and congressional races in the interest of keeping seats that will have serious challenges, in part due to the toxicity of the man and his mouth.
Of course Trump's answer is to throw all the other GOP races under the bus in favor of his presidential race, feeling the need to keep up with Hillary because she has no campaign funding shortages. On top of everything else Trump is looking to pay himself back the loans he is making to his campaign, he just assumed that when he was flush with backing from the GOP and superpacs that this would be an automatic.
I suspect that if Trump gets into a scuffle with the GOP over funding he will walk. It's hard to imagine the GOP caring when it might be exactly what they want. Trump will use the lack of funding as an excuse to walk away with a reason he didn't do well.
Where this might go? I can easily imagine Trump suing the RNC under breach of faith terms on the grounds that they are not treating Trump the same way they have treated any other candidate. Trump's name brand, the value of what he gets paid by resorts and other entities to use the Trump name is going to be forever damaged. Trump has his supporters but he is despised and reviled by the rest of the world in a way that gets worse as more things come out. I can't imagine that revenues on Trump named resorts are not going to take a beating as a result of the spotlight on Trump the man and how he rolls.
My right wing neighbor and I discuss these exact things, and never with any anger or heat, and this is how the bet on whether Trump will still be there for the election came about. I discuss these things with Republican friends, they acknowledge that some of this might be true but who can tell with such a wild race that Trump has put on. Many of my Republican friends say they could even swallow voting for Sanders over Trump, but never Hillary.
If it angers you to hear someone else's perspective and opinion you are wound a bit tight, otherwise known as being caught up in beliefs to where you don't want to hear reality.
So being under the original understanding that Trump was paying for his own campaign, this being what impressed people so much, how does it make you feel to have been lied to like that and find out he anything but self funding?
This is a topic about what Trump is and does, as well as his campaign finances and whether you think he will be there by the time the actual election takes place...
...not what Hillary or Obama did or is doing, which has nothing to do with what you think about Trump. If you don't have an opinion about the Donald and his circumstances and problems he is incurring then there is nothing you need to say, there are many other topics that are about beating them up, this is about intelligently looking at the presumptive GOP candidate, who happens to be up a creek.
