Marlin 917vs

I have the opportunity to buy a Marlin 917vs for cheap. There is no reason for me too buy it. I dont need a gun this size at all, but hell the .17hmr is fun. Its got the stainless steal bull barrel and the laminated gray/black wood stock. I can put it on my account at this store and pay it off as slow as I want. I don't know much about this model. Has there been any problems with them and will I be able to shoot the fleas of PD's?

Not a bad rifle, I have the same in the blues version. Put a 6x20x50 ontop shoots rodents just fine. Lieel smalle for coyotes unless it is 100 yrds and lees. But still nice tool for the trade of hunting

I too have the blued one. Shot a squirrel in the head at 100yds with it. Good shooters, lousy trigger on mine and mag sometimes needs to be pushed upwards for bolt to catch next round. I figure it'll take a $65 trigger and a little work to make the mag right. Hard to beat for $189 at Walmart that'll shoot around 1 1/2" at 100yds without much work. If it's a good deal grab it, they're like jello, there's always room for more. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I have the 917vs and it shoots fantastic! My dad's Savage shoots well too though. I put a 3-9x40 Bushnell 3200 Elite on it and I've taken crows and squirrels out at over 130 yards. The 17hmr really is a fun round and from my experience you won't be disappointed with the Marlin.

Grab it!! If you can get a great price on it, you can spend that much more for a good scope and trigger!! I have a 917V and a 917VS, both with Rifle Basix triggers, but you may be happy with a HOME trigger job to save money. Magazine issues are easy to fix, mine feed great and they aren't a bit loose in the mag well. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Mine is the same one you're looking at. My only problem with Marlin is the bolt gets rusty where the handle is welded on. Outside of that I sleep with mine.LOL
