Hey guys, wonderin if anyone has heard anything or owns and shoots one of martins new line of 2004 bows....I started with a martin lynx when i was 14 and i have had everything from matthews to bears since...i now shoot a Martin Cougar III and it is the smoothest shooting bows i have ever picked up and i have shot them all. I max out at a little under 300 fps on the chrono, its like a cadilac compared to the matthews black max i had. i wouldnt ever think of getting rid of this now but i saw that martin went back thier dual cam technology and wondered if anyone had anything to say about them...thanks Anthony

I shot Martin for years, now shoot Matthews MQ1. None of the Matthews shoot as smooth as this bow.
I do not like any of the new Matthews designs.
The bow before the MQ1 was a Couger also, and I shot it for 5 years, and liked it almost as much as my MQ1, but the Matthews is a lot smoother draw and a little faster w/ ACC's.

Yea I used to love my black max back when i was a speed freak....myself and all my freinds were always trying to shoot "the fastest bow" and none of them could ever catch that. It wasnt until i picked up and shot the cougar III that i realized how much comfort and smoothness i gave up when i went to the black max, with its crazy excessive speed. My groups imroved also with the cougar...i put an HHA adjustable sight on it and i am very comfortable (depending on the thickness of the woods) taking a shot up to 50 yards. I have a nikon rangefinder that is worth its weight in gold when used with that sight system. I found bow tech is the same way as the black max was, i shot the patriot and that kicks even worse, however i think bow tech will turn out to be a very good bow down the road, they're still new and need a little time to work out te kinks. Anyways i made a few of my buddies happy when i went to the cougar III ...made one really happy cuz i sold him the black max all set up for a pretty good deal...but i won it all back from him in our weekly 3D shoots after the cougar took its place....he now talks about getting a cougar or phantom for next fall. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I have a Phantom Mag and I love it's light weight and fast speed. The bow weighs only a little over 3# bare and when equipped with a quiver and all the other goodies, it still a lot lighter than a Cougar Mag I started bowhunting with 11 years ago. I just acquired a really nice, almost new Martin Rage 2 for $170 that has a Tropy Ridge 5 pin sight and a Whisker Biscuit rest on it. I was thinking of having it as a back up bow, but my wife will probably end up with it.
