I have been shooting remingtons premier match out of my stevens 223 loaded with a 69 gr matchking BTHP and its accurate as all get out, its sub moa for 5 shots at 100 yards. is this bullet safe to use on coyotes i just wasnt sure it expands enough.

A lot of guys use the 52 grain match hollowpoint on yotes and love them.......the Predator Pursuit boys use Hornady 75 grain match hollowpoints and seem to have great success with them and last but not least, our soldiers in IRAQ use the Black Hills 77gr OTM (open tip match) on bad guys and they supposedly work great, so I think the 69 grain matchking would work just fine as long as you do your part on put it where it counts! Edit to add: These match hollowpoint type bullets don't expand, but they do fragment quite well.

Bama,
I have found the oposite about the 52 and 53 grain HP match bullets. On yotes DRT are non existant so far. I like the Vmaxes myself. But you may be a bit better off given you are shooting a bit heavier bullet. I love the 55 grain Vmaxes out of my Stevens .223.

I'm using a 53 gr. BTHP match grade nosler in my 22-250 and it definately does the job. I would shoot was your gun likes.

I loaded up 500 of the Hornady match this summer. I didn't like the 50 grain Vmax. It blew up 4 yotes badly. One runner.
There was lots of discussion about 52 grain Match bullets doing a better job than v mzx. I'm going to try them.
I'll let you know. I can't wait!

As long as you make a good shot- they will work fine. Been on the hunt over here in Iraq for a year + and have over 100 feral dog kills with the 77grn Sierra's and they work great. If they do run, its always less than 25-30 yards and usually because of a bad shot on my part.

I been using what I use on our big fat groundhogs here in Pa, Ive tried smk's in my 223 on groundhogs and they usually just poked holes through them, so I tried vmax's and started blowing them up, much better expansion, so thats my choice for coyotes.

preciate the help yall ii reckon il just try em out and see how they work if not ill just get a few more boxes of come different loads and see hwat shoots in my rifle. you never need a good excuse to shoot more anyways.

vmaxs will put them down, only problem is they normally blow up the dog, unless somehow they are shot in a way that makes the bullet blow up inside the dog, one of the last dogs I shot last year, I hit in the neck the bullet blew a grapefruit sized exit hole in the middle of the dogs side near the top of the back, it was a beautiful male that was huge with some unique coloring and a dark ring of hair around the top of the tail, even with this frontal shot I still exploded the dog, another dog that day I had to shoot twice and after that the dog was darn near cut in half, if fur is no worrys use the vmax, as for me I am going to try the berger match bullets

I am glad to see that load shoots well in something. I have used it in several rifles and it does not shoot worth squat. Using the heavy match bullets, my experience is that they need to be running as fast as possible. If not, you do not get the explosive nature. I run 80's out of my .22 TSM at 3350. Yotes simply explode.
