Anyone have a link to change water pump on 225 Mercury Optimax water pump change?
It looks pretty simple but would like to know if there are any tricks i should know before I tear into it.
thanks

You can order the manual through Merc. here;

http://www.mercurypartsexpress.com/PartsExpress/HomePage/homepage.asp

Or go on line to get the Clymer manual.

Point being they want service done through a certified tech. shop so they can soak up some more of your bill's. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif That moter goes for over ten grand and you did not get a schematic?? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Got a full manual and parts # breakdown with the 120 4-stroke Merc I bought last year.

Thanks for the info.
Fact is the motor was 20 grand and no schematic or manual.
I've done Johnsons, I was just hoping to hear from someone who has done an Optimax to see if there are any hidden tricks.

You don't have to look far, the big outboards cost a fortune. You don't buy a boat, you buy the engine & they toss the hull in with it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Two best days a boat owner has--- the day they buy it and the day they sell it.....
know this for fact, on my 26th boat and I did not start buying untill 1985.
LOL

I got it...took about 10 minutes total.
Anyone who owns a big Merc, pay the $30 for the pump and put it in yourself.

No truer words ever spoken!
I have done pretty good making a living bass fishing the last couple of years but this boat is leaving after this tournament and I'm done.
Its all about a pontoon boat from here on out.

By the way, price a new ETEC these days...WOW!!! spendy.
I hear lots of good about them. I have yet to have one pass me but the guys that have them say they are pretty fast and durable.
