MGM contender barrels

I've been looking to buy a 23' 7-30 Waters barrel for my Contender. It seems as though TC isn't making them any more. I have some extra money and am considering a "custom" barrel. I've looked at several web sites and think that MGM might be who I buy a barrel from. Does anyone shoot an MGM barrel and if so what do you think? If you shoot another makers barrel what do you think of it? Thanks, Mike

I currently have four MGM barrels, barrels from TC and others. MGM is my first choice in customs as they are always very accurate and nicely done. From MGM I have 7-30 Waters carbine, .204 Ruger carbine, .357 max and a .221 Fireball. They are not cheap and generally take 4-6 weeks for delivery but you get what you pay for.

I shoot a 13" MGM barrel chambered in .30-30 AI on my Contender. Its accuracy potential far exceeds my shooting ability (for what that's worth). The workmanship is excellent as well. Though I've never had issues with T/C factory barrels, were I to plan a purchase of another aftermarket barrel, I'd look to MGM first.

I shoot an Encore 6mm rem., .17rem., and a .221 fireball from MGM, I also have a 25-06 from Virgin Valley Customs. That is where they were before they started MGM. They all are sub MOA.MGM barrels are made on match grade, air guaged Shilen blanks unless you specify otherwise when ordering one. If you go to their website, they have a list of already finished barrels that were ordered and not picked up in several calibers and finishes. Thats how I usualy buy from them, then you don't have to wait. If you order one, their turnaround time is fast too.Kerry is a great guy and has a great company.

I have two one encore that i just got and i have a 7-30 waters contender. I really like them both and they are very accurate and i have been very happy with there proformance The only thing is if you order one deppending on cal. you could be waiting for awhile the encore barrel i just got was a 19 week wait shilen is a little busy but it was very much worth the wait
