yanno, something just hit me. Recently while out stumping for hubby she was complaining about owing her student loans.

Now, aside from the sheer absurdity of her ingratitude for being able to go to Princeton & Harvard, I think? and somehow being mad at having to pay back the loans...

OK, tangent here. They were "student loans", not student grants", "student gifts", student gimmes" etc. She signed to borrow the money. She seems fairly intelligent, so what part of "this is a loan, which means you have to pay it back after you go to work, didn't she get?

This is the nice, twisty little maze that set me off to:

Obama is my age, 47. They've been married for almost 20 years. She has been earning $200 to $300 THOUSAND per year. They reported income last year of something like $1.4 MILLION. For one year.

So why the hell hasn't she paid the loans back long ago? Why does she still owe anything?

Are these people who have earned a considerable amount of money, yet rather than becoming wealthy with their debts paid off & money in the bank, invested in some mutual funds, bonds, CD's, etc working for them, are as broke as everyone else? I dunno what their debts are, but I'm wondering now just what makes anyone think he has any idea how money works, much less enough to diddle with our various govt polices that effect the economy?

of course, I have to point out the obvious:

They've been doing pretty [beeep] good in the bush economy, having a reported income of well over $1,000,000 last year alone.
 
One could easily make the assumption that if her loans are not paid off, Obama's himself are probably still in arrears. I haven't the foggiest idea of what a year at Princeton, Harvard or Yale was running 20 years ago, but you can bet it was close to 30grand, I believe I heard they're well over 50 grand a year now.The low end total owed would be 5-600,000 dollars. That could help a lot of their poor relatives get into schools without having to drain The United Negro College Fund, a mind is a terrible thing to waste.
 
Don't know why you guys are making such a big deal of the $1 million income. I've had that.....stretching over 40 years! Just to clarify, if your arithmetic skills are rusty, thats $1,000,000/40.

I dont know about you, but I got a much better job after the current Bush took office than I ever had when Klinton and his whores were there. Well, I wish ol Bush had a clone made of himself. He had done did me right. I would invite him over for some of my wife's chicken fried steak with mashed taters amd plenty of cream gravy, sweet peas and fried okra. Hot corn on the cob swimmimg in butter just a waiting for it to drip down your chin into your napkins that is allready sopping wet. Lots of sweet tea to wash it all down with. After a spell and we all open out belts a bit we will slowly amble out pitch a few horsehoes maybe- just maybe one or two of us will stick us a finger in a can of Skoal of Copenhagen as long as the wifes don't catch us taking a dip of fine tobacco. Maybe a bit later yet a few of us will turn out backs on the crowd and light up a few fine Davidoff Three Finger Double Coronas. Some fine gentleman will display a liter of 107 proof WL Weller wiskey and bucket fill to the top of cyrstal clear ice. Ice clinking in glasses, hands slapping on shoulders that are slapping on more shoulders. This is for me. This is what I want by God. Maybe you'd feel more at home on one of the Kennedy's yacht eating butter dipped lobster and pinching the "girls for the evening" on their amble behinds and hoping like heck that you dont catch nothing from them and bring it home later and give it to your wife.

My life is pretty dang good since George got it office. I just want everybody to know just how much that I appreciate him for doing that for me. There are those of you that dont like him, and, well, those of us that do would appreciate it if you started using your heads for things other than bull suppositories. Others just may as well leave them there. That where they seem to stay all the time anyway!
 
Yep, I wish there were a lot of clones of george bush too. We could give some well deserving lab rats some time off. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Of course you're right. That is hypocrisy at it's highest level, as well as arrogance, ingratitude, and is a terrible example to set for our nation's students who also have college loans. She's nothing more than a piece of puke.

The Obama's are all a bunch of over rated pukes. I wish George Bush could run for another term because he would have my vote. My incomes hasn't suffered under the Bush Administration it has prospered. We have no where to go but down under the Dem's. I cannot help but feel sorry for all the Bush haters out there that think that Obama would be a better president. Oh well. Stupid is as stupid does.

Hey Stu, do you think if I complain about my student loans Michelle will look out for and write them off after her hubby gets elected?

Just another case of the 'entitlement' mentality--'You owe me the education, how dare you charge me for it!'

Rustydust--I agree with you wholeheartedly on W. He would have my vote again! I think that most of the population was so disarmed to actually have a president do what they said they were going to do and actually have a set of stones.

Being able to look back on a president's tenure is probably the cruelest view of all. Everything in retrospect could have been handled differently. Second guessing and the woulda/shoulda scenarios are easy to do after the fact. We pay the man a pittance to make the kind of decisions he has to make and live with.

I can't understand the crowd that thinks life would have been better with Gore/Lieberman or Kerry/Edwards! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

You take the words right out of my mouth. I too have done well the last 8 years, for sure lots better than under the socialists before him. In my opinion anyone who has not done well may have to look at theirself to blame. you are supposed to work for and earn your money, not be given a job by affirmative action or something of the sort.
