Still building points as a non-res now. Last time I used my 300wsm. It worked great but I was thinking about the 284win next time. A family member had some issues last hunt so since it was my 1st I tagged out with the 1st legal bear. Next time I move on to QBM.

Most shots are under 50 yards. My wife uses a scoped 12 ga and man does it work !

which unit did you draw? i've hunted most of them and it sure is hard to beat a few of them for size of bears.

Newberry unit.
It gets hunted pretty hard. Would love to hunt the extreme western end,but it's just to far. Bears are bigger that way. It takes a full day to do a bait run on the east end .

It 's fun getting up in the bush anywhere in the UP !

Lots of bear around here and further up toward Baraga. It's great back in the U.P. bush hunting and camping. It sucks getting an animal out.

Even the small bears are hard to get out of the bush. They don't carry well at all.
