Michigan- Nettie Bay Competition

I have seen the Sako Vixen, at a shop in Arizona. This guy had it all set up. Beutiful piece of work, but a bit out of my price range. Not familiar with the 6mm either but I bet its a screamer. Theres nothing more toxic than the bottom of a lake, and with the low lake levels one good storm will stir up all that crap thats been festering for years. Dont know what the Shores looked like today, but it was scary up here on the north end. I'm talkin 4footers. Havent seen rollers like that in years.....

Unfortunately, it was a bit out of my price range too. But as luck would have it, I still remain engaged. Best buy it now before she puts her foot down.
I crossed over the Blue Water Bridge yesterday, in a Toyota Echo(light as a Yugo) and thought I may be joining the salmon! One could have surfed down the river. Plus the holdup at customs by casino traffic caused us to have a wind buffeting view for longer than I wanted. I got caught earlier this year in some similar nonsense out by the Canadian weather buoy while fishing perch. Long ride home! Weather not fit for fishing OR calling!

Well I got married last june, and let me tell you get it now. The money for my gun is being used remodeling a bathroom, but thats what SHE wants...

Hey MI Varmit- Sounds like you and your son had a good time in spite of things at Nettie Bay. Still trying to get a dog here in my back yard. Haven't seen a track or heard one in quite a while. Maybe they moved on.

Hello,
Where is Nettie bay? is it in the UP? I am from south west michigan, and i am very glad to see other Michigan hunters with the same problems as i. Still have a blast everytime i go out even though i am yet to see a coyote while calling the past few months.
Watch your back for cougers, we have had sightings as far down as Holland, Mi. Don't know if the sightings are credible or not but the did find tracks. They say there are about 20 of them in the lower pen. and 30 in the UP.
Good luck-
Nigel

MJ,
Sounds like a good idea, Even if it just puts a few of us in touch. Allows for a better report on any action around the state. This site is better than any magazine, always something new to read, Most magazines cover the west. Having contact with hunters in Michigan would give us even more info on our specific state.

Hi MJ & MIvarmit, Your idea of a Michigan Predator Club sounds Great! Put me down, I would love to get this thing going. Bob....Lansing Area

Thanks for the intrest, looks like we have a chance for the 1st Michigan Predator
club, I will set up a Yahoo chat room and a meeting time (next step). /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Absolutely sureshot..Let us know what we can do, sounds like a great idea. We need to keep up with the west, theres alot of good predator hunting to be done in MI, just not alot of guys doing it....Mark

mjsureshot, sounds good to me also I really need
to get more info on the coyotes in Mi I just started a few months ago and am still skunked

While already a member of Michigan Area Varmint Shooters, I would also be interested in this. It is good to network with local guys when possible. Maybe this is where i could pick up that one tip I need to help me get my first coyote.

Nigel, there have been lions in the UP for many years. I saw my first one in the late '70s, it was a mature animal. I've got no idea how many there are here, but you can rest assured that there are many more than the MI DNR will admit to. I've seen tracks from a mature cougar almost every summer for the past 4-5 years. A MI predator hunting club would be a good idea. MI VHNTR

The latest issue of Varmint Hunter magazine has an article about cougars in Michigan. From what I read, it has been confirmed and there are a small number of the big cats here.
