Midway just about everything catalog

Was sorting through a tub of old magazines and catalogs I'd been saving up. Found the Midway just about everything catalog from 2005...made me sad. Just happened to have the new 2009 edition handy.
Most of what I looked at has literally at least Doubled in price, some items more. Anyway, no real point to this post, just an observation.
If you'd like me to check on a certain item for you I'd be happy to look up a few, but you probably don't want to know.
I'm going to throw it away soon so it doesn't keep reminding me how I'm getting shafted.

On a completely unrelated note: Happy Friday! (now I feel better)

Just because you have Midway's current catalogue,, don't think you have their current pricing..

I started to order a 60.00 item less than a month after recieving the new catalogue and the price had already been raised to 75.00...
That's a 25% increase before the ink was even dry...

Call it "Capitolism" or "Supply and Demand" or what ever you like,, but in my mind it's price gouging.

I think the retailers that we've been loyal to and in,, Larry Potterfield's case,, made very wealthy,, owe us a little loyalty too...
Instead all I'm seeing is more good old American Greed..

The thing is,,, all of the hoarding (read greed) is what's causing it in the first place. I'd call it a real conundrom if I knew how to spell it.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

The whole mess is putting a bad taste for the shooting sports in my mouth. Especially when I see pix of Larry P. on Safari.

RePete, I totally agree with you....

I've watched Larry Potterfield go from a small 'one room' building handling small mail order items to what he has today.... and while I will still buy some things there, don't ever think he is not a "Merchant" in the strictest respect....and sometimes the "Deals" are still making him and others a lot of money...

I can't figure out why they keep sending out catalogs full of things they don't even have.
They bill themselves as a company that sells handloading supplies but if you go to their site they are out of stock on most anything.

Oh and if it makes you feel any better, I have several boxes of Sierra 180 gr. BTSP GKs bullets I bought way back when. The boxes cost me $5.99 each. Price those in your Midway 2009 catalog.

Anybody have suggestions for a supplier that has bullets and powder in stock at competitive prices.

None that I'm aware of.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

One of my favorites,,, Powder Valley" only raised their prices a little bit,, but they're out of just about everything....

I'd like to point out that it's not just Midway that's showing their greedy side,,,, but they are the biggest and most visable,,,, and IMO,,, the greediest.

In these times I'll,, never say never,, but I won't forget how the "Merchants" have treated us either.... And in a few cases I'll pay a little more to avoid patronizing some of them if I have the option..

Midway is the last place I`ll ever order when there are small companies Grafs that have great customer service and awesome shipping!!!! I know this is about pricing but I have to wander how much shipping price they actually pocket as well????

That is what gets me. You see the price and then you follow through to get shipping and it is more on one site than the other.

"I am Larry Potterfield from Midway USA, and thanks for making me wealthy beyond belief."

Try grafs site for bullets and if you buy large amounts of powder they will pay for Haz. shipping. If you can get several guys together you can save on haz. shipping on powder. The only thing I don't like about midway is when you order something that is on backorder with some things that are not they want to charge you double shipping charges. Other online places I order from only charge me the one time. As big a midway is they are losing customer because of that, several buddies of mine have slowly drifted away from ordering reloading supplies from midway because of that. I talk to a midway employee and this guy told me if you need something and its on backorder to go ahead and order it because they are filling backoders first before they fill orders, so if they get something in that is a hot item and after filling all the backorders they sometimes run out and have none to add to the online site. He said it might take several months or longer before you can order it online. He said the best way to get it faster is to order it while its on backorder, but I look around before I have to do that anymore and I'll buy it from someone else. Grafs site is pretty good, they only charge $4.50 S/H and you can order $5,000 and its only $4.50 S/H
some of the bullets are a little higher priced, but most are about the same.

With the way thing's are lately,It's drawn me closer to my "hometown" mom n' pop gunshop..

Yeah they don't have much either @ least they know me on a 1st name basis..They even act as if they like me..

I'm pretty sure they're acting though /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi all,
Speaking only for myself, I would never speak poorly of Mr. Potterfield or any other person who made themselves rich by starting a business from scratch and making it successful - it's the American way. I also believe that each of us can choose who we support for whatever reason we want to - it's the American way.

I have been watching prices and have found Cabela's is about the most competitive. Right now they have brass and bullets in stock. Yes they have raised prices on some stuff, but the increase has only been about 4 or 5% not the 30 or 50%.

Nitwit??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

You're extracting bits of me and others statements and reading into them something that nobody has said.
If I wanted to hear that kind of spin I'd turn on MSNBC News.
All I said (or ment to say)was that Larry P. and others need to remember where they came from and who helped get them there...
If that's not "The Americam Way" then perhaps we've lost our way........

Oh Yea,,, I also like Grafs,, but I noticed on their ad on the back of the new FF&G that their 4.50 shipping fee is now 6.95... I doubt that they recently recieved a rate increase from UPS... Add that to their higher prices and it's a wash...
"Greed's Greed" call it what you like...

RePete,
Upon further review, perhaps I did read something into some statements that isn't there - I believe we're both on the same side.
Sorry about the Nitwit - it's my screen name on another forum and I signed it here by mistake.

you'll be hard pressed to fine one that has them in stock, much less decent prices. i get my best prices at the local one man gun shop, unfortunatly he can't get any either.

Hey Nitwit /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

No sweat... I'm sure we're both on the same side. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Hey guys try Gene Sears Supply in El Reno Oklahoma. He has very competitive prices on bullets powder primers. Call information for the number. Ive been buying from these guys for years and seldom find anybody that can beat them.

I hate to go off topic but that little response and RePete going, "Nitwit??" made me almost die laughing. That little mistake by Uncle Leo has made my weekend!!! BTW, I'm kind of in the majority camp on this one.
Lately that catalog has reminded me of the Sears bra section in their catalogs when I was a kid...."Look all you want but you can't have it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif"
