Midway USA

Sounds like you dropped the ball to be if you had a chance at other 22 ammo and didn't buy it. 22 ammo isn't all that hard to find online right now if you look.

In the last year I have spent $2246.33 at MidwayUSA,,,not once have they dropped the ball nor have I been unhappy at any point with their service.

Personal interaction …are you kidding the man will not return my phone calls. Evidently I am just a “peon” that doesn’t deserve his time or attention. Winchester did return my call. Now you are up to date on that part.

I bought my first Rock Chucker Press from Midway. I am pretty sure that was in 1989. For several years I bought almost everything from them including: bullets, brass, brass prep tools, various gauges and measuring tools, chronographs etc. I pick up powder and primers from Winfield, KS. to save hazmat fees. I can’t put a time frame on it but REAL customer service has gone way down in recent years. The “Thanks for your business” recording while you are on hold is a nice touch, but you need to follow through.

I did not just “fall off the turnip truck”, and I am a native of this planet, I also am and have been well aware of the rim fire ammo shortage. It is NOT unobtainable. If I had deep pockets I would go to gun broker and buy all I wanted and me and the grand kids would be chasing pecans and water bottles all over the place. Winchester said they are shipping this product daily. Midway confirmed they are getting shipments in and are filling back orders on a first come first serve basis. My name would have come to the top.

I don’t know how I got under your skin, but I have been handed a bad deal (that’s about as polite as I can say it). I called and ask about the status of my order and was told that they would fill the back order when they got to my name on the list, and for me to make sure to keep a current credit card in their files during the back order period. After they have assured me they won’t cancel the order….they cancel the order. How in the [beeep] am I supposed to feel all warm and fuzzy about that??

My Dad, rest his soul, once told me that if you tell another man you are going to do something then you had better do it, or die trying. If your word is no good than neither are you.

Lots of darts thrown at me over this subject. I guess this old fart is just behind the times with the way things are done in today’s world (or planet).

They kinda got me ticked off last year. As many know that we new yorkers are dealing with the so called (UN)safeact. I had an order for some bullets and the next day I got an email telling me that because of the safeact they can not ship bullets to ny. I sent them back an email telling them that they can ship components to ny just not ammo. I also sent them the link describing what can and cannot be sent to us. The following day I get an apology email from them saying they were sorry and that they jumped the gun without reading the safeact in it's entirely and would I still like for them to send my bullets. I got them quicker than normal and still deal with them a lot.

I wouldn't condemn you over your opinion of Midway. Everyone is entitled to have one.

Also agree that if they advertise something for sale and can't get it they have no business selling that item.

Like I said in an earlier post, don't just buy from Midway, compare prices from others and I bet you change buying from Midway.

Well I could see the darts being sharpened, but my post was not meant to be that, and others post`s just some ribbing, and somewhat of a reality check for you, meaning others all over the country are finding it hard to find 22 LR.
As for me, I really wanted to place an order for the BUCKET of Remingtons right after donating my last box of 525 Rounds to the Boy Scouts for their Summer activities. I didn`t even bother though because they were on backorder.
Over the course of the last six months, I have acquired enough 22LR that I should change my sig. line at the bottom. (I was frustrated that day because 6 or more regular buyers were waiting in line for them as I took ten minutes to shop).
Get what you can when you can..bottom line.

I've known Larry Potterfield since I went on the local PD in '73 and while he may come across as a little 'odd' to some..He's a great guy, as well as a shooter's friend, and has built that business from a double car garage sized building to the monstrosity that exists today and he's still planning on a Cabela's type facility across the interstate from his current location in the future...That type of growth doesn't take place by shoddy customer service...

I hate to think how many orders (and dollars) that I've sent through the business, whether receiving by mail or picking up in person at 'door #5, and recently just spent over $1400 on a bore scope and Magnetospeed barrel mounted chronograph..Every order was filled expediently and correctly with excellent delivery time..

When something is on 'back order', I always keep it active, but will buy when I can find it elsewhere, and then cancel the standing order...Never had a problem with that process...

Not to mention that Larry Potterfield has donated hundreds of thousands to the fight to keep our second amendment rights.

You'd feel a lot warmer and fuzzier about it, and probably would have never gone on this little tantrum, if you'd have done the smart thing and bought the .22 ammo when you'd had the chance.

You shot yourself in the @ss by passing up the ammo that was right in front of you and now you blame Midway for cancelling your order for the ammo that you never had and had no ETA on. So now you're playing the victim card and wailing it's all Larry's fault? Right.

Grouse

Winchester also had a Large shipment of 22LR ammo recalled and that put them behind even more.

I have no problem getting a hold of someone or even getting called back with midway. I have even ordered and wanted shipped and called 4 hours later and got them to take the package to will call so I can pick it up myself.
The new shipping costs that they worked out with the shipping company's is much better now than it was.

Buckhall has a right to his opinion and he is exposing his opinion to this blog. While I've bought from many of the online sellers over the decades, I can't say anything bad about any of them. Now that's my opinion, as to how my transactions are. when Herder's went out of business I laminated about that, (bought my mail order 44 mag from them) when Lock, Stock & Barrel went out of business I laminated about that also.
You know it's good to know what all goes on in this industry as when there is a trend that starts, one knows who to buy from or stay away from, like Dicks Sporting goods, won't set a foot in one of their stores thanks to the fellows on this blog alerting me to there positions.
Glad to see many of the people here like doing business with Mr. Potterfield, met him and his family once in person here in Milwaukee last year was a real pleasant experience. Take it easy on Buckhall, as I said before he's only reporting what happened to him personally.

the only truly negative experience I've had with midway had to do with UPS handing the package off to the post office who then delivered it to the front porch of a house on a different street, with a different number than mine and residents whose name bears no resemblance to mine.

But I think I can put that mistake on the PO, not midway LOL

And mostly the PO has gotten it right, so I'm not going to gripe about them, either

Its been debunked here several times. He is only reporting part of what happened that furthers his agenda.

More than one person here got the same email. I provided the WHOLE story in my first post.

It is what it is.

never had the privilege of speaking with larry or anything but I have spent at least 5 or 6 thousand dollars there in the last few years and couldn't be happier. I have managed outdoor hops and know all too well how difficult it can be to get everything customers want when they want it. I also know that prices vary not only week to week but from distributor to distributor. sometimes when you are pulling products from multiple distributors the prices change and accordingly you must change them. its not an easy balancing act. they have even given me my money back no questions asked when they didn't really need to due to my stupidity. bottom line....I wont hesitate to spend more money there

Does Larry Potterfield donate or does Larry Potterfield give our donations to the NRA?

Exactly what someone else brought up before.

I always like it when they show a company president on TV handing a check to United Way. Do you think the company donated that or the company employees?

I'm not knocking Larry but I do keep a watchful eye on happenings. Never had a problem with Midway but I also don't buy much from them anymore when I can get it cheaper elsewhere.

Give Midway a little time and you'll see they will have 22LR out the wazoo. It'll only cost you twice as much as your canceled back ordered price. No honest man like Larry is going to let you have any of his 22 bullets at $252 a case of 5500 rnds. that he gave a contract price of $200 for, When he can get $550. It wouldn't be good business. Cheaper Than Dirt are masters of this business practice. Midway is just now catching up. Yep, old Larry will light one up and smoke it down then roll over and fall asleep when he's done with ya'.

Sounds like you know a bit about MidwayUSA. How long have you been buying from them?
