Hey fellas, What got me thinking of this was the Bennilli M-4 shotgun. It is supposed to be made for the military. but, bennilli wants an arm and a leg for it. Can you buy military surpluse weapons (most specificaly the M-4 shotgun?) and if so where. Thank's Brad

Within the last several (25-30) years, most of the surplus weapons and related items are going into storage and then sold to various law enforcement agencies at really reduced prices, to supplement their arsenals.

Since the inception of "Homeland Security", a lot of departments have been getting some pretty sophisticated items.

Including night vision, etc..

They have been pulling out old M-14's and sending them to Iraq to help deal with snipers. For instance, some of the MP units now have a couple of guys with M-14's to help in counter sniper work and the Tank units have also seen a few of these.

I have not heard of shotguns being sold to the public and I saw a show not long ago where they were recycling as many weapons as possible by sending them to a central armory for complete rebuilds.

How about thinking about a MOSSBERG 535 TACTICAL TURKEY . I bought one for yotes andturkeys. I got it camo and I have a tasco camo red dot on top!!! This gun is sweet !!! You need to look in to this !!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

+1 to the above post. I bought a Maverick (mossberg) new for $169. It has the 18" bbl and regular stock.

My "truck" gun is an 870 I bought years ago that looked like it was drug through the gravel, but it functions fine. Had a gunsmith buddy cut the barrel and put a bead on it and took a can of high heat black BBQ paint to it and poof! New to me HD shotty.

The military bought thousands of them and are still using 'em. There's nothing wrong with a Mossberg shotgun. But you are right, it aint a Benelli. You might think about checking the CMP the old DCM program to see what they are selling now.

You aren't going to get a Benelli M-4 shotgun as surplus when they are current issue and on the front lines everyday right now. They aren't "surplus" at this point.

And Kinton fixed it so the public cannot get surplus firearms any more. Unless they have been released to the CMP no sales of weapons to the public. That was one of the "strong crime controls " Mr klinton left us. Just hope his wife don't get in we will be royaly sc###d then

Thank's fellas for the come backs. I figured as much but knew if they were out there you fellas would know about it. I've seen the tactical turkey and it seems like the ticket. Just wish they came in semi-auto. Brad
