I just purchased a Interarms mini mauser .223. I have been eyeballing these little guns for many years ever since a friend of mine bought one in the 80's (I think). One popped up in great condition for cheap so I couldn't resist. I bought a bell & carson carbelite stock, some Warne bases and rings and one of the new Redfield 4x12 duplex scopes. This was to be my "ATV" gun. A knock-about light weight gun that I could have with me instead of the Remington predator with the VX-III.

I adjusted the trigger to right at 2lbs, mounted the scope and put it in the B&C stock and I took it to an indoor range to get it on paper and was I impressed. First off the scope was true in reticle adjustment and in power adjustments. After getting it to shoot .3" low, the darn thing was making a barely discernable 1 bullet hole 3 shot group.

With that I had to take it out and try it at 100 yards. I was lucky with a no wind day at about 75 degrees. Sub 1" groups with a couple of 1 ragged hole 3 shot groups. The gun can clearly outshoot me. The scope again proved to be true in all power adjustments and clear as could be with only a slight edge blur.

I was shooting HSM 52 gr HPBT rounds.

This little gun outshoots the Remington Model Seven gun hands down, is as light or lighter. It's only draw back is it has quite a muzzle flash.

I do not know how the Remington imports (the 799) are, but this older Interarms version is outstanding and the Redfield 4x12 scope at $180 shipped I simply cannot beat the combo.

I am thinking that this is going to be a primary gun and the Predator 7 may find itself a new home!

Those older mini mausers are hard to find. From all I have read, they are really nice little rifles. Nice that you found that one.

A really well done gun, outstanding construction with no milling marks, a smooth action with no binding, clean lines and the darn thing is ACCURATE.

I got the B&C stock to use to cut down a little on the weight and it did, but not by much, but it sure looks nice in it and I am pleased with the B&C stock construction. It was a niceity, but not really required as the wood stock looked good and fit well.

Rings & bases (35), scope (180), stock (155) and gun (280) = $650

Now that is hard to beat.

I've been looking at these little things for 30+ years, and now I think I might start looking "for" one. Good review, congrats on finding a nice little rifle.

I picked up a Rem 799 about a year ago but have not shot it . The metal work looks good but the stock is a little "clunky" ( it is also ugly). I bought this one because Bass Pro was clearing them out for $399 . I'm saving it for a project/rainy day gun .I'm not sure what I am going to do but at the very least I will work on the stock and glass bed the action. If you don't have the instruction manual PM me and I will send a copy of the old interarms manual . I will need your email address . One of the other guys on this forum had it and I will pass it on . There is a good section on adjusting the trigger.

PM sent.

The Remington 799 version has a free floated barrel and glass bedded lug.

And you are right, the stock is butt-ugly.

Thanks for the manual!

I had one about 15 yrs ago and it shot better than any gun ive ever owned but like a idiot i sold it and bought a 243 model 70 which was the worse gun ive ever shot. Dont make the same mistake that i did that thing is greatly missed.

I prefer a wood stock on my hunting rigs, but that's a nice little ride.
I'd take it home and feed it.

Love the Mini's.
Any Idea what it weighs?

Charlie

7 lbs 8 ozs with scope and sling.

The stock is quiet, unlike many fiberglass stocks. No hollow sound and clatter.

I am taking it to the mountains out of McDermitt in Nevada to hunt coyotes tomorrow for 5 days.

It will be fun to pack around!

I REALLY like my Mini Mauser. I have only been able to take it to the range once. 55gr. FMJ Federal red box, Leupold 2.5-8 and she shot .75 in. five shot groups @100yds.
I have since adjusted the trigger (much better now about 2-3 lbs) and adjusted the safety after adjusting the trigger.

BE CAREFUL AND CHECK THE FUNCTION OF YOUR SAFETY AFTER ADJUSTING THE TRIGGER. Something just told me to check the safety after I adjusted the trigger. When I did it felt like it was setting just fine. A pull on the trigger showed me the safety was not working properly. So please check your safety's function.

And $280 for that gun was a steal.

Get back to us with a report on your yote hunt .I should mention that I have a CZ527 and H&R Handi Rifle in 223 as well as the 799 . There is also a Bushmaster lurking in my gun closet too. I am a big 223 fan but Hornets are my favorite.

Me too! A R-15 predator with two stage trigger, a Remington Model Seven in .223 and now this little darling. Great round for a variety of non-game animals.

Thanks for the safety/trigger advice. I just checked it out and it is fine. Departing in 30 minutes for my trip. Just need to finish the coffee and make the last trip to a "Non -field squat" toilet.

My buddy has a cougar tag so we are going to try to get him on one.

I will take pictures if I remember and get back to everyone.
Time to move.
