My son got his first deer during the youth hunt today. After a pretty much uneventful weekend, we saw 4 does yesterday, brush was too thick, no shot. No deer yesterday evening, none this morning. I decide we will try a spot I missed a doe with the bow a week or two ago. The poor kid had to be wore our, up at 0530 every morning, get back home around 730 in the evening.

So today at around 5:10 I see a doe staring us down. I tell him not to move, we are in a blind, the doe just keeps coming across us at around 45 yrds. But he doesn't see it! Finally he does see it when it is straight in front of him, and he whispers, "If only she would stop" I ask him if he wants me to stop her, then the gun goes boom! He jumps up, said I got him. It was a great feeling. He did shoot here a little far back, we had to go and he finished her off with a good shot. Dad and him are pretty excited. Hope you enjoy the pics!

Good job to Plumb and Plumb Jr. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif Our youth day is November 10 and I can't wait.

Good deal buddy! Congrat's to the both of you. I had a little guy show me a picture of a fat doe he shot on Sunday morning. He was plenty puffed up about it. Did you guys get some frost Sunday morning? We've had frost the last three mornings, though I'm fretting over how green the brush is and how many leaves are still on the trees. I mowed grass this evening and haven't even had the leaf blower out yet.

Thanks guys. GC, we got our first frost this morning. Last year during the youth season the leaves were off, it was real thick out there. Some of the places we went, that I always see deer, was so thick if a deer was out 50 yrds, we wouldn't have been able to see it. We are pretty proud of him. See ya Plum

We ate some of his deer tonight, and he was proud! He kept telling his mom that this is the one he got. He is hooked!
