MLR reticle

Has anyone tried the MLR reticle on the Nightforce scope,I`ve got a NF on the way with mil dot but I was wondering about the MLR,I was told that the mil dot reticle was slightly bolder than the other reticles and according to NF catalog the MLR has the same size reticle lines as the mil dot.

I have used it and I liked it. What I prefer on the MLR over the MD is the fact that the MLR has .5Milradian hash-marks and it's much easier to break it down to finer graduations compared to the full 1 Milradian marks on just the Mil-Dot ret.

Same for the NP-R1 compared to the NP-R2, the windage marks being spaced at 2MOA in the R1 are easier to break down and make wind holds than the 5MOA spacing in the R2.

I dial elevation and hold for wind when shooting long range, the finer hold points of the MLR (Mil Ret) and the NP-R1 (MOA Ret) are easier to do that with.

Good luck with your scope. You did order the Mil adjustments to match the Mil reticle I hope? That makes life a touch easier when the adjustments match the reticle.

I see what you`re saying, but is the MLR slightler more bold than the NPR-2? I`ve looked thru the NPR-2 and its a little too fine for me. The salesman whom I talked with told me that the mil dot was the heavier reticle line but the NF catalog shows the reticle in the MLR to be the same size as the mil.
Truth is that the NPR-2 was too fine for me.

I prefer the MLR over the MD reticle any day.
I used a 3.5-15 SFP NF last year for hunting, and really enjoyed using it.

I have two with the MLR, a 3-5x15 and a 5.5x22. I prefer them to the MD. Had the NPR been available I would have gone that route just so I could work with MOA all the way.

According to the Nightforce catalog that I looked at, the MLR was slightly more bold than the NP-R2, do you agree with this?

That's one great reticle design, IMO. They give all u need in a long-range reticle and no more than needed. The 0.5 mil vertical and horizontal systems are just right for longer range zeroing and the 0.25 mil spacing at the end of ONLY 2 of the 4 stadia legs is almost perfect for very accurate rangefinding.
