Yes I just ordered an upper from there so i was just curious as to how long it was taking for people to recieve theirs... thanks for the info guys..

I haven't seen it in print for a year or so, but the slogan, "Friends don't let friends buy from Model 1", used to be a fairly common answer to the question being asked...

City Boy i wont argue your statement i think they have had bad past experiences, but i am a research guru and i think things have changed and people are changing that opinion, but i will be sure to let everyone know of the outcome and see how things go...

people used to say the same thing about Tapco, now most of their stuff is made in the US and is awesome. More power to the companies that are willing to put in the time and fix their problems.

Notice in my post I stated you used to see that in print often.

The reason TAPCO buys and sells many US made items today is that the Feds (BATF) now require a certain number of US made parts for many of the import weapons TAPCO sold/sells kits and parts for. Without getting into specific detail, it hasn't always been that way in the past....

And..... It was never an issue with Model 1 of specifically buying foreign parts. They were just buying some non-mil spec items and selling them under the illusion for the buyer that they were mil-spec. This was a large part of their bolt carrier problem....and the pins and lower parts kits that have been mentioned having poor quality parts.

Because of the slip-shod way the company ran its business in the past, I for one will not purchase from them in the future. There are far too many other reputable companies that have been in the AR business for years for me to even worry about buying from them today. And I don't have a consumer guru degree that helped me make that decision... My degree is in something far less eventful for this thread..... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

What someone else does with their money is purely their decision. I don't mind paying a little extra where I know I'm likely going to be getting quality parts and service all the time. And I have no doubt that YOU might buy a perfectly serviceable upper receiver or lower parts kit from Model 1. I won't be doing that however since I was on the other end of the deal some time in the past....

Everyone have a nice evening.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif "City Boy" out....

I hate to hear that any company has "great customer service" I immediately think the junk they sell is always on its way back to be replaced with another piece of junk.

I'd rather hear that no one knows much about their customer service. That would mean to me that every one that bought one has not had to send it back. Craps is crap at any price, and great customer service don't help a bit.

I've have one thats been shooting 3/4 inch groups at 100 yards. The only problem i've had with it is, the front sight base was slightly off I loosed the allen bolts and tinkered with moveing and locking it back down.Once I got it locked in.It was fine,Im a fan of Back up Iron sights.I'll proably deal it off come tax time.I'm looking at a Patriot Ordnance
Factory Gas Piston uppers, I want to keep gas out of my face while shooting with a suppressor.

BCB,

I sure hope you were not taking offense to my thread. I was not trying to disprove you in any way. If you note my first post in this thread I mentioned that model 1 had problems in the past.

Just want to make sure you knew I was not trying to be a jerk in what i posted.

No problem..... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I was just trying to further explain my personal thoughts on the statement I quoted.

My only concern was that the barrel was not quite up to par, being a standard HBAR config., but after shooting it last night at 400 yards those concerns are gone. I got two very very nice groups.

when I first ordered from them I didn't know who ER shaw was, but after a little research they have a pretty good name in the industry. I would not put them at the top tier of AR barrels, although mine works great.

How much was the shipping from Model one?
I am ready to buy a kit but they wont tell you how much shipping will be. It is a loose end in my opinion.

I ordered up a kit from M-1 awhile back and for whatever reason there was some confusion and mix up in names and addresses. I finally received the kit and all is well. I'll still do business with M-1 but it will all be internet orders only basically just for a tracking history and I can print everything immediately.
It's a 20" fluted S/S 8 twist, free float tube, it shoots rather well and looks great /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

If I remember, shipping was more than fair. I have a receipt somewhere from the upper I ordered, if i can track that down then I will let you know what they charged.

Call Model 1 and ask what the approximate shipping charges would be for the kit you want shipped to your zip code. They are very reasonable, shouldn't be more than 15 bucks.

I ordered a one-piece scope mount from them and the shipping was very reasonable. I don't think you'll get a charge that's more than from anyone else for the same size/weight package.

For my complete standard rifle Hbar kit it was $20. But depending on weight and distance I would think I may vary a little.
