Model 12 Remington .22 Pump Restored- Before

I finally got around to getting some photos of this restoration. About the only thing good on this one to start with was the bore. It had a protective layer of crud that kept it from rusting like the rest of the gun. It still makes a slick little plinker. I have not had a scope on it so I can't say for sure how accurate it might be but it does pretty well with the iron sights.

ps. IMO it just wouldnt be right to put a scope on that!

I think your right. It would have to be drilled and tapped since it's not grooved for a mount.

I got the stock set from Boyds. I was surprised by how nice the wood was when it showed up. I didn't pay extra for it either.

Nice job on the refinish! Dad has an old model 12, but that one wouldn't get refinished. Not in out of the box conidition, but it is in damm good condition for it's age. sweet shooting guns too! That shoot short/long/long rifle too?

Very nice, I hope to get my grandad's 121 some day. Shot my first squirrel with that gun. It'll need a good makeover too. Not sure if I'll get it as good as yours though.

I did the stock finishing on a stock set that I got from Boyds here in South Dakota. That's a hand-rubbed Tru-Oil finish.

I also did all the metal polishing and sent the pieces to a gunsmith in Idaho to hot blue them. It was $45 plus UPS shipping both ways.

That's a nice job.

Mine has the octogon barrel.
It also needs to be rechambered as the chamber is pitted and
basiclly worn out.

From the pictures yours looks like the deluxe take down
model.

They are very sweet shooting rifles.
Mine's been in the family since it was new and it's what
I learned to shoot with and it was also my first gun.

If you contact remington with the serial #, etc they might
send you info on it. They sent me a photocopy of the
orignal manual for mine.

I have one in the take down model. Don't scope it ,its a neat little gun and a blast to shoot. I have about 5 ,22cal of various makes but the kids all want to shoot the Model 12. 1Longbow--Very nice restore job!

CHOICE old piece! I have a Remington 121 Fieldmaster that I love dearly, so I know they shoot good. I wouldn't scope it either if I had it.

Sodakjim- I always look forward to your restored rifle posts. You really have a "Nack" for what you do with them. Its easy to build a rifle with bolt on parts, but to take a beat up POS like you start with and turn them into a "Work of Art" is amazing. Looking forward to the next one.!!

Thanks for all the nice comments. It's nice when someone appreciates your efforts.

I did this one for my niece about 10 years back and I have never posted any photos.

I had my brother send some me photos of the Model 34 for you to look at. His little camera has problems getting in real close. Hope you can make them out OK. The small brown spots are where I had to put reinforcing pins to mend the broken stock. I forgot the stock was in 3 pieces. I recall getting this one at a pawn shop for 50 bucks.
