I recently inherited a nice Little predator hunting rifle Model 600 Rem. in .222 . In my high school days i remember shooting my good freinds .243 in this compact little rifle. He was pretty tough on coyote and deer with it.

I would like clean it up real good before shooting it. Curious where the bolt release is at on it ? not real apparent to me. Certainly diffrent than a model 70 and 77.

Curious what loads you think would be good in this rifle? For Coyotes mainly , with a possible Bobcat on occasion.

I heard that there likley has been a recall on the trigger by reading some old post about the 600 Can you tell me more?

Your input appreciated !!!

Bolt release is a little square button, just in front of the trigger.

Turn the rife over, and look where the trigger goes into the trigger guard - there will be a blued square button. Push it and withdraw the bolt.

Easier than what it took to write this

The bolt release is on the left side of bolt, you should see a small lever, take a small screwdriver and push down on it, pull bolt out.

1-14 twist rate, so lighter is better. 40 grainers, I'd say...

Call Remington with the serial number, they'll tell ya bout any recalls.

All of the old Remington triggers were recalled IF the bolt was locked closed when the safety was on... put on the safety and if you can't open the bolt, that trigger was recalled... which were all of the 600's.

But most people didn't send the guns back cuz there is nothing wrong with the triggers. IT was all about a stupid lawsuit.

this is correct between the reciever and the bolt body.

Mine works wonderful with 40gr Hornady V/Z- max and H335 chrono right at 3500 from the short barrel

Should have read this a little bit better, Thanks!!!!!!!!!

HS precision makes a nice replacement stock for these. ADL style, so you can crap-can the plastic BM, and use a 700 tg. If you want a great aluminum bottom metal for your factory stock, CVMW makes a dandy.....

Yes, I agree great looking little 600

Yeah call remington about the recall. I have a 660 in .222 that is recalled but I don't shoot it.

The plastic trigger guard is the stupidest thing I have ever seen. Definently get new bottom metal. Like that stock above!

bell and carlson also makes a stock but not sure if it is any good.

Dang huntsman, now I want a 600. The plastic always turned me off them but now I see the better way!!

KansasCowboy- I just tried a new load this week-end in my triple duece that looks like it may be "The One". Its 24 grains of 8208 and a 40 grain BlitzKing. Sub 1/2 inch at 100 and was pretty accurate out to 200.

Dang !!!!!!! Sub 1/2 at 100 these little guns shoot.

Here is what I came up with the factory ammo I Bought
Hornady Superformance 40 grain Polymer tip.

I new these were pretty good shooters but didn't know they would shoot that good.

You shoot any coyotes with the 40 grainers? Good results?

I really like this guns size and weight. Looks to be a real nice truck gun and darn fine calling rifle.

and the BT's work well on critters other than coyotes, too....

I have a buncha prairie dog pics, too. If I showed 'em, they'd have to ban me.........grin

I own a couple, one in 600, and one in 660. Yes they shoot well, but with the short barrel they are loud. PM me for a good load that won't bust your ears.

50gr Sierra Blitz Kings will tip over most anything you touch with them.
