I really enjoy the Mojo Critter, but I did have problems with the switch on the first one I bought. When I returned it the clerk stated that she knew all about the Mojo Critter because a number were returned during hunting season last year. I still traded the unit for a new one but have not used it extensively yet. I did not have problems with the housing.

I watched my brother-in-law break his last winter trying to jam it into the ground. Mine is still intact due to mother nature providing a nice blanket of snow to stick it in. I haven't been out in frozen ground without snow to have any problems with it.

I really like Jeff's tripod idea. It can be folded down to transport and height adjustable. That's good thinking.

I sure would like to take the credit for the Tripod idea, but the credit belongs to snowmanmo.

He came up with the idea, and it has worked like a charm ever since.

The tripod is nice cause you can place it on rocks, loose sand or gravel, of on the frozen ground.

It has worked like a charm for me.

I was just a bit worried about the taller tripod I placed mine on. I thought it might spook the animals, but the very first day I used the taller tripod, we called in a badger who made a B-LINE straight for it!

The taller tripod also get's it up above the short scrub brush as well.

One thing I have noticed is people are MANY times more likely to take the time to post a negative review or comment.

I see the same thing on anything I check reviews on. Guess we are as predictable as the critters we seek!!

I bought one at the end of last season despite all of its potential shortcomings. The problems are minor with easy fixes. Their support from what I have seen has been excellent if it is something more serious. If I have problems with it this season any fiddling I have to do with it will be worth it because the action on it is superb and it didn't cost too much to begin with.

Just my two bits which won't buy you much.

Broken Plastic Spike Repair:

Find the size of deep well socket that the original spike fits into, usually 3/4 inch. get some 1/4 inch steel rod and weld it onto the bottom of the socket, camo tape covers the crome and your new, better, stronger spike is ready. Push the new steel spike into the ground and place the plastic stake of your chosen decoy into the socket.

I just bought my critter last week, and made some longer threaded rods if more height is needed. I also have a small rubber hammer for driving the rods in if the ground is hard, then screw the critter on.
Can't wait to try it in the field.

Broke the top of my Mojo while trying to push it into semi hard ground. Love the Mojo so a friend of mine who also had a Mojo cracked told me he could fix it.
We took Mojo apart and marked the screw holes on a large Automotive washer that had a hole big enough for the shaft on top,Drilled the screw holes got a little longer screws from Ace hardware, painted the washer flat black and put Mojo back together screwing the washer on the outside, it clamps the motor housing to the washer with the plastic in between.
No its not made of very strong material but it can be fixed.
I also made a stake for mine, Took some 10" tube metal, flared the end, epoxyed a very long nail into the bottom of it. Works great.Maybe cost me 3 dollars to fix and make things for the Mojo. I understand now they offer a premade stake for your Mojo Critter.
In others words.....The Mojo is not made of the strongest material,But it is a very effective decoy and has swayed the odds in my favor on more the a few occasions. So I came up with ways to repair and modify my decoy and hopefully Mojo will make improvements to the Critter in the future. I would still pay the 45.00 for the Mojo because it works.

Some of you have probably already seen this video, but for those that have not, this is the first smaller tripod attachment we used for the critter. For those that have seen the video, sorry for posting it again...

The threaded bottom of the Critter that accepts the threaded steel stake will also accept any threaded tri-pod nut as well.

The critter mounts right up on the tripod just like a camera does.

No adjustments necessary, works like a charm!

Just as a side note or an addition to Jeff's comments, Walmart sells a fairly decent variety of cheaper light weight tripods.

The square tube extension that comes with the MOJO Woodpecker also works with the Critter. It fits on the square portion at the bottom of the Critter that contains the threaded, brass insert. Works along the same lines; push the extension into the ground apart from the Critter and then place the Critter on the extension.
With regard to the Wally World tripod, I got one(Targus brand, I think)from over in the photo section. It was maybe $15 and collopses very small. Its not real sturdy, but for holding the Critter or my digital camera for hero shots, its just fine.

This is what I did with mine after it broke. 3/4" COPPER PIPE with a 3/4" to 2" reducer. Works great!! The critter fits into the 2" copper just fine.

I think I'm going to take the Wally world tripod idea, then wrap the legs and body of the tripod in fur, should add a bit of "meat" to the decoy, perhaps help entice them closer.

THEN BAM!!!!! Dead
