Mojo Critter decoy...yah or nay?

I just started using one this season.
I have only made 7 stands so far this year with no takers to the decoy but it does look good and with more time in the field i think it will work good.

I have one and really like everything about it, it is very well made and the movement is excellent, good battery life too....their customer service is excellent!!

I've been keeping an eye on this thread because I'd like to have a good decoy too. I already have the whirling woodpecker and haven't had any luck with it. Time to try something else.

I read the reviews about the Critter on Cabelas website
Seems like the reviewers either love them or hate them. All agree that it's a good idea but some of them have had problems with the on/off switch breaking. For you who have one have you had any problems with the switch?
Has that problem been corrected on the newer models?

Thanks

I saw the reviews about the bad switches on them...I'm hoping they got enough complaints about it that it's no longer an issue. I also found another review that said the switch was easy to swap out for something better if you needed to. I may swap mine out with a small radio shack toggle-switch just in case. I'd hate to get way out the dang thing die on me. Hopefully they've started using better switches.

We just got a new one about a month ago and they have up graded there switch and looks to be a much better one. The coyaotes we call in love that thig try to eat it almost every time.

There is another thing that you can do, I've tried it and it works. Unscrew the spike and screw in a 1/4 inch eye bolt. That way you can hang it upsidedown from a branch and it looks like a gnarled chicken trying to get loose.

This will be my 4th season using a Mojo Critter.
I modified mine by using a slightly shorter tail (less whippy) and using a few Turkey feathers instead of the furry strips.
I also use a hen turkey decoy next to the critter with good results.( These dogs seem to have a liking for turkeys around here)
So far, no issues with the switch and had run without problems even in very cold winter temps. I do use rechargeable batteries in mine

Gander Mountain has the Edge Quiver Critter for $19.99 shipped. Sorry about the other post, i was confused with another purchase i made at the same time.

I ordered one after reading this thread. I hope you guys are right!

You'll like it Moto.

If you watch MoJo Outdoors TV you can see it when they were down filming a show. It did well.

We got some coyotes in our laps while they were down.

I just ordered the Critter from APC. All the good comments and watching it in action on "Bucking the Odds" youtube videos really sold me.

I'll put it to the test when it gets here and post the results. Hope it can help me get a shot at the black coyote I called in a few weeks ago.

I have a dumb question for you mogo critter user's, do you seperate the fur strips (moving one down a few inches) or do you leave them together at the top of the flexable shaft? I couldn't get the bottom strip to move down.

As to the switch not working (falling apart) I had that problem on one. I've got four now. Any problem that's come up they make it right pronto. I love the Critter.

One piece of advice for cold weather users. Unscrew the wooden stake before storage. I've had a couple break due to this. Once in a call bag. Once after a small drop into the truck bed. Everything becomes brittle at -30 to-40C.
