moose hunt

Can anyone recommend a good outfitter for moose hunting either in the Yukon Territory or the Interior of Alaska, that is half-way reasonable in price and in an area where the wolves haven't eaten all the moose? I've been on trips out of McGrath, Alaska, but have been told that the wolves have eaten most of the moose, so I'm looking for somewhere else. bear_dog

Have yoou considered the Kobuk River? You could buy a "Soar" inflatable canoe for about 1400.00 and supply your own gear. You can fly commercial into Shungnak and float to Kiana or Noorvik.

You would want to be off the river no later than the 7th of Oct. because it starts to freeze pretty early. AW

Oh Yea, I do have a friend in Kiana that has an air taxi and a jet boat, he might be able to get you ur the Squirrel river. AW

I have a guy that is based on the Kenai (sp) river that gets BIG moose. If you're interested e-mail me at:

If you're interested in a self guided hunt, contact Larry Bartlett at Pristine Ventures. He might also be able to hook you up with a guide if you want to go that route.

You're living my dream. Good luck. One of these days it will be my turn.
