mossberg 835

I love my 935! And like Beagler's 835, with Nitro 3.5" 2x5x7's it is a beast on the toms!!!

It is also bad to the bone with 3" copper plated BB's for predators!

I'm running a 535 w/ 3" shells. It does not kick hard, but it still stings from time to time. Do they make some sort of guard to ease the shock/recoil?

The Mossberg 835 stuffed with magnum turkey loads is indeed brutal! I got into a pissing contest with a fella about witch choke was better, his or mine. After 10 consecutive shots on paper with 3 1/2 I felt like I had been in a fight. My face was bruised as well as my shoulder.

What choke with those BB loads?

I have no problem with the kick and neither does my 16 year old daughter, she likes it a lot!

I have killed a dump truck load of turkeys with a Mossberg 835, Rhino Choke and Nitro H517 shells. The original Hevi 13 #6 out of a Rhino choke patterns very well too.

What I'm liking for turkeys is Winchester Longbeard 3" #5s and a Truglo Strutstopper xtreme which I think is a .670. It's not as dense as some combinations I've heard about but my patterns are 130+ pellets in 10" at 40 yards. I'm happy with that for now though I'm still interested in experimenting more which is half the fun!

This is a pic of the above set up. It has a couple holes in it and I'm wondering what you more experienced folks would recommend?

The only thing you can do with any shotgun is try different chokes and loads.I found though Kicks HF chokes put a few more pellets in the 30" circle.Mberg Accumag chokes gave a more even distribution of the pellets.

I have patterned Rhino, Jebs, Hevi, Kicks, Strangler, and Primos.

The Rhino and Jebs were the tightest with Hevi duplex H517. Kicks patterned the Hevi 13 well. and The Hevi 13 Choke patterned everything about the same. Just kinda depends on which load you wanna shoot. Either way, the 835 will reak havoc on a longbeard, best turkey shotgun ever made in my opinion.

Hard to beat Kick' GT .680 with most any load using 4,5,6 shot.Just remember those tight long range patterns can also work against you if a Tom slips in quiet from behind. They dont get big and old being stupid.

My experience as well. Brutal on both ends. Don't shoot off bench or you will pay. Def don't scope it or you will really pay! If patterning, I shoot offhand and just a few.
