Mossberg MVP LR Tactical

I have heard that the tactical type mossberg a shoot pretty well. However, the 16 inch barrel for a round like the 223 is definitely going to hinder it's long range potential a bit.

Looks like a good option if you didn't want to buy a rifle and swap stocks and all that, though.

Don't shoot the messenger, but I have heard Howa builds the actions for Howa, Weatherby and Mossberg. Mossberg supplies their own bolts. And that is a weak point on the Mossy's. When I was working at the gun shop, a few were returned for problems with the bolt and accuracy issues. I have always steered away from the myself. Just repeating what I have heard.

Howa does make their own, and they also make Wetherby Vanguard series. I think they also once made a rifle for S&W. I have a Howa 223 HB. Great rifle, shoots tiny groups. My buddy just bought a Mossberg 308. I didn't see a simalarity in our rifles actions. If they do make these actions, it is a different model. His rifle shoots ok, bolt movement is rough, nothing like the smooth as glass Howa.

I looked at a few of the Mossy's and like deputygene, I didn't really see the resemblance with the Howa either but I think I heard it here. Never owning one other than a Mossberg shotgun, I can't really say one way or another on accuracy.
