Mossberg Silver Reserve

I have been thinking about buying A Mossberg Silver Reserve in 12 gauge. I googled it and could not find that much info, or to many reveiws. Does anyone own one or know some one that does that can give me some feed back. I want to know if it's worth it for a $500 O/U gun or if my money would be better spent on a new Bow?

I would spend my money else where. I have several O/U shotguns and I myself looked at the Mossy for a duck gun. But there are several reviews knocking the gun. And they are having a lot of trouble with the monoblocks denting and messing up. Go to www.shotgunworld.com and go to the "I Love MY" and go down and click on Mossberg and go through the pages. You will for sure not buy one then. Spend the money on something else. Good Luck!!!

I have a Mossberg Silver Reserve in 12 gauge, It is a well balanced gun (for the price)it shoots well, but it does not have automatic ejectors and when you shoot the 3's the %#*%@*& thing will kick the crap out of you. I tend to grab it on really windy days of Pheasent hunting, and grab my Baikal on the other days. If you can find a Baikal (not made anymore)then that would be the ticket right there.

Check out CZ or SKB. A little more expensive maybe, but worth it.

A new bow won't do anything your old one will, and it won't be worth a quarter of what you pay for it in 3 years.

Buy a gun.

The Baikal that Radd4 is talking about IS STILL made. Its now called the Remington SPR series.

I too have thought about the Mossburg Silver for an O/U duck gun, but when checking out http://www.shotgunworld.com/
I found out of the mono block problem and have stayed away from them. I guess it has to do with the firing pins in the fired position while assembling or closeing the action.

Spend the money on a new bow, you will use it more!

But it ain't made by the guys who made it before. and in my opinion since they changed it, it just aint as good...

So to me since it doesn't say Baikal it ain't being made.
The gun IS being made but under a new name by a new owner who made some changes to make it cheaper to sell. I have the older plain jane models (no engraving) in a 20 and and 12 and I love them. The 20 is my favorite when I am out huting quail, Pheasent, or rabbitt.
