Most Accurate factory .22 bullet for Remington 597?

The best I have found in mine are the Federal Champion. 36 gr bullets. Bulk ammo shouldn't shoot like it does. I haven't tried the mini-mags from cci yet. They usually work well for me.
 
Rimfires are really finicky and they all have their own likes and dislikes. One of an identical model will prefer one particular ammo another of the same model may like something completely different. A good starting place might be some CCI standard velocity solids. They seem to be pretty consistent right now and turning in good accuracy in a variety of guns. Wolf Match is another good starting place. It'd be just a guess... but it's a starting place.

I have a Remington 597, Ruger 10/22, and a Marlin 60. The Remington is the most accurate but the others are not that much worse. I did change the hammer and polished the rails on the Remington. I dont get any failure to feed, fire, or eject to speak of on any of them using CCI Mini Mags. I like shooting all tree just the same. To tell you the truth, the .22 I like shooting the most is my Marlin 39A.
 
I have quite a few .22s and, over the years, have accumulated a wide variety of brands and types of ammunition from CBs, Shorts, Longs, and Long Rifles in Sub, Standard, High Velocity, and Hyper-Velocity loadings (approx 30-35) and have found that some barrels perform well with just one brand/type while some others chew through a fairly wide variety with equally good accuracy....

I wish I had a definite answer as to why the difference exists, other than an overall combination of barrel quality, chamber reamer dimensions, bolt lock up, and firing pin effectiveness, since it seems that each plays and important part, individually, in performance...

If you look at some of the tricks and machine applications that are applied by gun smiths and competition shooters that take the real time to study each factor and modify them to their preference, you will find a wide variety of opinions on that venerable little round....

You might want to spend a little time over on Rimfire Central, and maybe pose a question there, as I'm sure someone has run into a solution for getting improved performances out of almost every brand on the market...
 
My wife's shoots the Federal Champion stuff into little groups. It cycles great too. I have also shot the Remington Subsonic with great results. Either can be kept ringing a 2" steel jack at 100.

My theory having shot most of the commom 22 RF ammo. If it won't shoot Winchester Super-X 36 gr HP's well it's not going to perform with any 22 RF ammo? Super-X only in the Winchester line. Another issue I think is extremely important with semi-auto 22's is that the bullets should feed into the chambers without marring or shaving lead. Sometimes polishing helps. A friend shoots tiny groups with Wolf Match.
