Most Effective Recoil Pad?

Have Pachmeyer Decelerators on other rifles.
I just chambered a 22-284 M700 BDL and probably don't need much of a pad but it only has the factory hard plate on it now.
Is there anything "new and improved" I should investigate?

I'll second the Sims Limbsaver, I've got em on all my hard kickers, they are trully a great pad, much better than the old favorite, the Decelarator. The only thing I don't like about em is they are sticky, you need to use some Kick-Eez pad treatment on em.

I also very much was impressed by the Simms recoil pad that I put on my .300 Winny. So another thumbs up for Simms!! I didn't have the sticky problem with mine for what ever reason.

I have the Limbsaver on my .270 Ruger M 77 and I like it a lot. The fit to my stock was perfect and it took only about 10 minutes to install the new pad.

Hi-Viz, the sight manufacturer and maker of X-Coil pads claims theirs is 30% better than the next best, the Pachmayr, and 60% better than Simms. I'm NOT saying they are right, just what their pad packaging and sales reps say. I have handled their pads and the seem great subjectively. I'm going to put one on my .458 and another on a .308 Saiga, the latter only because the factory pad has somewhat of a "bounce" to it that gets me too close to the eyepiece of the scope. Don

Simms didn't have a direct fit for my Rem Model 7 laminate .308 so I bought the slip on. What a difference. Now, if that Hi-Viz is 60% better than the Simms then shooting the .308 will be like shooting my W63 22 lr with it. I'll have to check them out.

Limb Saver for sure...The recoil on my 444 Marlin with heavy handloads was absolutely brutal, now it's more than acceptable.

I have one of the slip on Sims pads on my 870 supermag and it works great. Arborman, is Seminole Florida in Pinelas County, if so we vacation there every year. Wonderful place.

I have 2 Pachmyer Decelerator Pads and like them a lot. However I still had 11 rifles, most of them could have used a Pachmyer. Instead of having to keep shelling out money for them I resorted to a Past Recoil Shield which works equally as well, and I only need one. Best wishes.

I've had decelerators before, the Sims Limbsaver is noticably better...you won't believe the difference. I've got em on all my heavy kickers, Sims made a believer out of me the first time I set my 835 off with a 2¼oz 3½" turkey load!!

I put a limbsaver on a Remington .458 Win. It's better on recoil now. Worst part is trying to grind and fit one of these types of recoil pads.
