Most explosive bullets?

I have shot quite a few different bullet types and I can't find anything better then the V-max. Does anyone have a more explosive favorite?

One of my perrenial favorites is the Speer TNT 50 gr. HP. I use the ones you are not suppose to shoot over 3400 fps. Shot out of my 22-250 at over 3800 fps with a 1-12 twist they stay together but it don't take much to scatter them. It is the wickest combination I have tried to date.......

Vmax are the most consistently spectacular that I've ever found too.

DAA - got your VS one and when I get back the following week I will order up a copy of VS II. Next best thing to being...so to speak.

The question read.........
" Does anyone have a more explosive favorite?"

I shoot v maxs in four calibers in six different rifles. Still say a max'd out TNT will do at least as well...

Next weekend I burn up a few of all of them.

I am currently working on a custom bullet design.
It will be of dual-core construction like a Nosler partition, only with an air space between the two halves.
The cores will be plutonium. On impact, the two halves will be crushed together, achieve critical mass, and fission, thus producing neat little mushroom clouds over the praire dog mounds. The p-rats will be truly vaporized!!!!!!!!!!!

Still trying to figure out how to keep 'em from from slamming together in the bore under the acceleration of firing though. Kinda ran out of volunteer test-firers...any takers????????

Choose the 22 caliber 35 grain V-Max fired from a 50 caliber BMG necked down to a 22 caliber. You will need to do a DNA check of the surrounding soil to make sure you hit your target.

Ive been shooting my 17HMR a lot here latley and trying different ammo. My favorite in the Hornaday V-Max 17gr (aint tried the 20gr yet)and I like them because they are the most accurate and consistant bullets for my gun but the CCI 17gr bullets seem to do a bit more damage but they dont hold a good of pattern and aint as consistant with accuracy as the V-Max.

I cannot believe I am the first to mention the Sierra Blitzking on this post. The V-Max is no slouch in it's explosive nature but it cannot compete with the Accuracy of the Blitzking.

I have used some a the Hornady SPSX's (Soft Point Super Explosive) and they seem to scatter prairie dog guts pretty good!

I like the Barnes 40gr Varnimaters for my .223cal. They are a hollow point with a scored jacket. They realy make them explode. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Loaded up some of those 35gr Hornady v-max's into a .22-250 Ackley Improved for a friend. Accuracy wasn't that great because we were after MAXIMUM velocity. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Shot a few Colorado prairie dogs at under 50 yds. We took turns so the other could see the beautiful red cloud that developed over the prairie sagebrush. Oh, trying to find them? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

Some of you guys need to be a little more responsible before recommending a 35 grain V-Max in anything above a 221 Fireball. That is the largest recommended cartridge that bullet is designed for. You get someone new to reloading and they put those in something faster and their gun explodes it's your fault. I mean come on you can put dynamite in your pants and set it off but I don't think you would. Just because that bullet fits the bore of your .224 rifle it isn't meant to be pushed that hard. The jacket will be off as soon as it leaves the barrel and could leave some in the barrel for your next shot. Think guys, if it isn't in a reloading manual there's a reason. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

115 grain Speer hollow points in the 7 Mag made quite an impression on the local rockchuck population....... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Worked up to the loads we used in the .22-250. All showed round holes in the target. Also got some good groups, just wanted to get a little more velocity for the fun of it. We didn't have the chrono along when testing the loads so don't have exact figures. I would bet we were way under 4700 fps, but over 4100. Loaded 20 rounds for a one-time try. This is not recommended for a standard load.
I agree that this could be a problem with casual/careless loaders, but we were aware of what could happen and were watching for any abnormalities.
