? Motion decoys with remote ?

I have never used a motion decoy. The Mojo is about $45 (no remote ) The Foxpro models that work from the remote is about $69 my caller is a Wildfire and I think the Foxpro one will operate with my wildfire. Is it a big advantage to have the Motion decoy work from the the caller ?I am going to start calling in more cover and thought the decoy might help.I need all the help I can get !!!!(from equipment and you folks )

I will say it can help and it can hurt. I personally rarely use a decoy any longer. It seems like one of two things happen. Either the decoy spooks or halts the coyotes progress coming to the call or the opposite, they come in so fast, you better have a shotgun. If you are a shotgun caller, it might be just what you are looking for. I think you will get a range of comments on this subject. A coyote has to see the decoy to work. If you have a consistent issue with coyotes not finishing or you have a real lack of cover and are worried about your concealment, give it a try. Some folks use a simple feather on a stick. However, if you have a FoxPro caller that allows a decoy, then I would go with that as you can use your remote to trigger it. This would allow you to activate it when you need it versus every time or having it on continuously.

Thanks Kory ,I have in general too much cover ,the few more open areas I feel are over called. It is very timbered and mountainous (lots of very steep timbered mountains .Fortunately (some disagree) we have about 8 wolf packs in a 60 mile radius and I could nail some of those ! Thank you for your advise !

If you set your stands up correctly, by the time a decoy would be a factor, the predator should already be DRT.

Too many folks rely on decoys to make up for poorly set up stands.

Just about any motion decoy can be wired to operate off the aux. port on a caller(most callers it is just an on off switch and supplies no power).

I'm a decoy fan, and have been using them since the first "Decoy Heart" came out. In heavy cover let them run continuous, nothing will spook a coyote more than something starting to spin a few feet from him.

I'll use a intermittent spinning decoy in open country where a coyote can see it a long way off and not be surprised when it starts to spin.

Surprisingly when I have a caller and a decoy out I've had times where the coyote will attack the decoy and others where they will attack the caller sitting near the decoy and ignore the decoy(blind coyote). Pretty exciting to see a coyote launch himself 10' from the caller and grab it out of a bush 4' off the ground. I've also had coyotes come and sit and stare at the caller with a decoy running close by and others that watch the decoy. I hunt alone most of the time and there are times they will come in on the far side of a bush and keep the bush between me and them and I don't get a shot(or not) until they start to leave so I get to see them trying to figure it out.

I don't ever remember a coyote spooking from a decoy if they can see it from a distance and not be surprised by it.

Good luck.

Thanks for your replies SnowmanMo and AWS .After watching Magpies dart off when they come to the call and not stop for a minute I think the MOJO will get me a bit more fur . I have never had one and I think it is time to give it a whirl. These mountains are getting steeper and the snow is getting deeper so I need to try some of this thicker cover down in the valley where most of the game is wintering .Last winter we had about 4 ft on the flat and it never really got crusty till the fur was on its way out.About 70% of the ground squirrels must have died in the hole the snow hung on so long .I had to wear snowshoes to get to the chicken house and barn several times.Save me a place in Arizona !

I've had my motion decoy in the mouth of three different coyotes. Two of them I never saw coming in until they pulled the caller out of the sage and ran off. I was hunting in the thick stuff and didn't have enough elevation to see them sneaking in. Still a super cool experience, though. The third I hit on the run after he tried to devour the decoy. They way I see it is, trick as many of their senses as you can. If you can get their ears AND eyes to believe, you're going to be more successful. The nose is the one I've never been able to figure out!

A motion decoy is a huge plus when calling bobcats, of this I am positive. Foxjack by FoxPro. I'll leave that right there.

Just drop us a line, we got plenty of hunting opportunities.

I never understood the remote control decoy for coyote hunting. If you buy a decoy, it flips and changes the repetition...... I have an Alpha Dog and the decoy that comes with it, but I never connect the decoy. I set it on low....it flips slow...that's all I want. It moves...

Right? I'm totally good with that. The dogs key on movement.... remote controlling? Seems unnecessary and stupid to me and i'm a noob. JUST MOVEMENT...any...please. Something for them to look at..

I advocate using a decoy, but the ability to remote control the speed of the motion of it.....ummmmm... I mean c'mon.

The only reason I see for a remote is that I forget to turn the decoy on when I set it(happens allot when you get older), it would be nice to just press a button instead of getting up and walking back to turn it on(the extra walking is probably good for me). But then I'd be dealing with more wires and I'd probably forget to plug the wire in.

I got a MOJO today,no more excuse .You guys can raz me if I don't correct a few times within the next 2 weeks. Thanks for your help, you folks are great bunch to share your knowledge.

I will stick to my cotton tail skin and turcky featherin a string don't use no batteries and you can forget to turn on plus it give wind direction if it changes

hahah...been there done that! but if you didn't turn the power on, the remote won't turn it on. I feel your pain...I've sat down more than a couple times....then realized I didn't hit the power button..............hahahaha
