Why don’t you consider the Weatherby Mark V Light Weight in .300 WBY Mag? Since you like Weatherby already, MRSP $1900 not cheap but maybe cheaper than going custom, here’s the ballistics of .300 WBY Mag compared to .300 WSM. Its only 5 ¾ lbs and looks good. Very comparable but may kick like a mule being so light though. Other calibers it's made in .270 WBY MAG, 7mm Rem Mag, 7mm WBY Mag

.300 WSM (150 BT at 3300)
.300 WSM (180 Sp at 2970)

.300 Wby. Mag. (150 BT at 3540)

.270 Wby. Mag. (130 Sp at 3375)

I say, buy a nice reliable weapon off the shelf, I wouldn't get all hung up on an expensive custom to buy. More money for ammo to practice with. Practice with your weapon is the key to success in the field, dropping a bunch of cash on a guaranteed shooter is not a guarantee that you can hit your target. I put a few scratches and dents in my rifles during a season, but that is just part of the game. I would not want to carry a weapon that I paid so much for that I have my mind on protecting my investment instead of being fully focused on hunting.
I have a tikka t3 lite in stainless steel chambered in 300 win. mag. I topped it with a Nikon 3x9x40 with the bdc reticle. It is accurate, nice action, tuff as nails and did not break the bank. Trigger is smooth and adjustable too. To each is own. Good luck with your choice of rifle.
