Mounting a scope to a flat type AR-15 upper??

Wow. I guess I started a heated discussion. Thanks for the posts. Thanks SD Handgunner. Was looking at the Armalite Mount (their new and improved version). What you said is exactly what I was wanting to hear for me anyway, getting the right mount the first time and having the scope come to my eye consistently is what matters. I do have to agree with Clayman 90 too. I have several highpower bolt guns and YOU do get what you pay for. A see through scope mount is never the way to go when you consider putting on junk mounts on a good gun and trying to make a good scope mount to that gun with crap in between. You have to be consistent with quality products and scope mounts purchased at Wal Mart are not the way to go. Sure they may work, but why spend $25.00 to save money and later having to spend that same $25.00 to get the $40.00 mounts you should have bought the first time. That my 2 cents anyway.

I am going to go with the Armalite mount, spendy yes, but looks like the way to go and I like how the front leans forward to give you more room at the backend.

I tried a set of high rings thenopted for the armalite 1 piece. The high rings were a little more comfortable but I liked the looks and felt more secure using the armalite. Just my .02
