My 22-204 Transformation

Just picked up my 223 tonight. Here she be. Can't wait to get out to the range.
80g ELDM @ 2.510" to lands
Be interesting to see where you end up velocity wise.

I have a 17 1/2" Rock Creek MTU 8" twist that shoots 75 Amax at 2900.

Longest prairie dog kill with that set up at 950 yards.

How do you get 2900 from a 17.5" barrel??? That's almost unbelievable...What powder? According to QL, I'm only going to get 3050 fps with a stiff charge of H4895 with a 75g ELDM from a 28" tube...

So you're predicted to get 150 FPS more than mine with 10 inches more barrel...tomato/tomahto.

Old lot of R-15, 5R barrel, long throat, moly plated bullets, and 3-4 firings on Rem brass with zero issues, rock on......

Regardless what you do with a 223, can also be done with a 22-204, and gain the same 100-150 FPS....case capacity rules.

We'll see soon enough what the 28" gives me. I have IMR4895, H4895, IMR8208XBR, and Benchmark to play with, but either of the 2 4895s are the clear winner over the other 2 velocity wise.

Barrel length is also a factor in velocity...I also have a 5R barrel and a long throat, moly is a waste of time. I could still AI it and easily meet or beat your 22-204. Not too worried about it, was just curious. 100fps doesn't mean shit out to 1K or 1200 but a few more clicks...Shooter skill and conditions play a bigger role at that distance than a mere 100fps anyway.

Again, the case capacity of the 22-204 is equal to or slight more than a 223 Ackley without the hassle of fireforming, nothing more, nothing less.

I started this thread to show the transformation through the years of this particular gun, not to turn it into a dick measuring contest.

Says the guy who can't answer a simple question without throwing his own condescending jabs in every chance he gets 🙄

First guy to talk about dicks is usually the one with the smallest in the room 🤣

I'm not a newbie here, so don't talk to me like one. You've told me absolutely nothing in this thread, that I don't already know...Hell I even liked some of your posts, but again you always came back with some smart ass comment. Two can play that game...Seems you can dish it out, but can't take it ha!
