MY APPOLOGIES

I want to say that I am sorry for the post requesting help for Disabled Sportsmen of America. I did not think it was a soliciting post But I have been wrong before. I was to the understanding that this was a site of "brothers in arms" so to say, and thought one hunter asking another hunter to help someone who wants to hunt would be acceptable. I was wrong, as the post got pulled. I regret to say that this will be my final post ever on the site, for I have posted the exact same post on several sites and was welcomed with open arms. Atleast I can say i got one good thing form this site and that was getting to meet the infamous Critr, and for that I am grateful.

Again I would like to say to the moderators and site owner I am sorry!

PM me your email address. I want to give you a list of sites were you will be more than welcome to post for Disabled Sportsmen of America.

You are not alone in that thought.

A request for charitable support is a solicitation? I suppose by definition it is. We've been running a little charitable activity here, but it's all been voluntary. But wouldn't any support for Disabled Sportsmen of America be just as voluntary? If the disabled sportsman were a PM member, would that be the deciding factor? Or is the deciding factor money? Pay to advertise here and get permission to help disabled sportsmen? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

How about asking and getting approval before soliciting for dontations.

I would certainly hope soliciting for such a cause would be ok.... Sounds like things could have been handled better on both ends. spctbone, don't take this so hard that you leave. It sounds like you are the type of member we need here.

OK I will stick around for awhile as I have been requested to do so by several members and maoderators to do so. As i said before I am sorry, But I thought I might get some help here! I THOUGHT WRONG I guess!

As for asking permission I should have and would have IF I had known so much chit would have been stirred!

I would love to be a fly on the wall in the admin room! LOL

Crapshoot - how about an apology accepted comment instead of a hard #ss response like that. I mean all spctbone was trying to was ask fellow sportsmen for a little help in helping folks who are less fortunate than others enjoy the same outdoors that you do.

I was told that there was a little controversy going on here about DSA (Disabled Sportsmen of America). I thought I would come on here to check it out. My name is Todd Smelser and I am the Founder of DSA. I will be more than happy to answer any questions anyone has about it. I will start out by saying this, DSA is a registered nonprofit 501 c 3 (approved by the IRS). We are staffed by an all volunteer staff, which means the folks who make DSA happen all do it for the benefit of others, there is no salaries or any other type of benefit that goes on, like other nonprofits such as the red cross, united way, and other outdoor disabled programs. We do it because we enjoy seeing others who are less fortunate have the opportunity to be successful in the outdoors. Our website is down right now for this reason, our domain name was disabledsportsmen.net and when the time on that domain name ran ou, which just happened recently, we are changing our domain name to disabledsportsmen.org and putting up our new website so it will be just a few days and the website will be back up. Anyone who would like to question the legitamacy of DSA, I welcome you to contact me through pm and I can either mail or fax you any paperwork you need. We are an open book. Our budget is very small as like before mentioned, we dont have to pay salaries. Every donation we recieve is matched with a tax deductible receipt.

In response to the reaction that SPCTBONE has recieved, SPCTBONE was just doing what he thought was right and fair as this is a public forum, I realize that there are rules and policies in place and we respect that, and now he has apologized for it. I hope his apology was enough for the "powers" that be but if not then there is nothing more he can do.

Let me see if I can perhaps clear something up here, since
I was the one who first brought the post into the mod forum for discussion.

Predator Masters has Terms of Service that we use as guidelines here. The post in question was in made in violation of those terms of service.
No prior permission was asked or obtained, and the sigline contains a link that is not allowed.

Because this organization may have some merit, the thread was not deleted, but brought into the mod forum while it was being discussed. I have been unable to find any info or website other than the commercial one in the sigline.

When I pulled the thread to the mod forum, I notified the poster that it had been pulled and the reasons for it.

Instead of reading the TOS and correcting the problem, he chose to post here with his decision to leave. He did not ask for clarification or permission to repost. BTW the commercial link is still in his sigline in violation of the TOS.

If members agree to the TOS without reading them, then who is responsible when they don't follow them?

Predator Masters members have always been willing to step up and help someone who needs it, but if we do not have a protocol to deal with solicitations, then we could soon become a source of "donors" for anyone who chooses to post asking for donations, instead of a predator hunting board.

This is not about the organization involved, but about policy. When these issues come up, they are discussed first to be sure they fit our parameters, and secondly to see if there is some way we can help.

"As for asking permission I should have and would have IF I had known so much chit would have been stirred!"

We have the TOS in place so everyone has the same responsibility, had the TOS been followed we wouldn't be having this discussion now. But once again we are the bad guys.

Nasa, the black ops and conspiracy theories are getting old. You are nearly always the first to jump on this kind of thing. Unfortunately because you have little or no information about the event, your reading of the situation is always skewed. You have phoned me, pm'ed me and emailed me in the past. Seems to be that would be the reasonable thing to do if you have questions.

You mention money as if it is something evil. Without money, PM would not exist, simple. Every cent raised here stays here and is put into this organization.

Predator Masters is growing daily. We have sevral mods and admin staff that spend a great deal of time and effort to keep this board runing smoothly. Nothing is decided by one person.
We have standards and rules and that is part of what seperates us from the other internet boards.

Once again this discussion has nothing to do with the merits of the organization invloved and everything to do with ensuring that we are in a position to help those that we can help.

AGAIN I APPOLOGIZE.
AND FOR THE SIG IT IS GONE. it was hosted at said site because at the time I created it they where the ones I used to Host my pics. I assume they are not a advertiser or sponser of this site so I cant use them. DONE.

I had read several other posts asking for needy causes and i thought it would be OK. I hope this isnt how every low posting person on here is greated in there time of need. I have been a registered member since 2003 i just dont post alot on here. I am a member of other sites where I have well over 2500 posts. i can send you links to those if you would like to verify.

DSA
Welcome to Predator Masters. It looks like you and I were typing at the same time.

Thank you for the information. It sounds like you have some dedicated people with a huge task in front of you.

I want to be clear, this was never about the merit of your organization, but about the manner in which the post was made.

I appreciate the apology, thank you.

Redfrog, probably so, I also realized that there are perimeters. I just wanted to clarify anything that us up in the air from our standpoint. I was not trying to influence your decision or change your mind, and to reiterate that an apology was made. Thank you for your response!

DSA.
I believe we are all on the same page, It is sometimes difficult to communicate on this internet.
As I said I think you have a good organization and a lot of work ahead of you. As part of the hunting community I think it is important that we support each other as much as we can.

I'll try to get the original thread back up shortly and we wish you success with your cause. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Edit: Sorry an off mood failed to keep my mouth shut when it should have never been opened.....I apologize to all who seen what shouldn't have been here.

We have a simple process in place for posting this sort of thing. Why is it so easy to open the door to negativity when we ask for the process to be followed. I'd think the membership would be somewhat greatful for the effort used to make sure that the solicitations seen here are lagitimate and honerable. The internet is a great place for those that have bad intentions and to abuse peoples good will. Please try to remember, bad people find it easy to come up with wonderful sounding names designed to take advantage of good people. The cherity in question appears to be honorable, not all of them are.
