My BPS shoots way high -- help me out

Yeah, I don't think I'm going to try to alter the stock. I really wish this gun could be corrected. I have four other shotguns and have no problems with any of them. I don't want to sink a bunch of money in it either for something that won't be a sure fix.

Would a 1X red dot help anything? Would it be adjustable enough to help it shoot lower?

Try to adjust the down pich with a couple of washers first. It will look crude but if you feel like it will help then you can get you the proper pitch spacer and install it. This will probable help you out i am guessing. Let me know after you have tried this. I may have a spacer i can send you. lee

If its a synthetic stock, that mite be a problem. I am not real sure what you can do. If the plastic is thick enoughf you may be able to sand it down, but i think it mite look pretty bad afterwards. If you are not in love with the gun trade it in for a shotgun that fits you better. Remember some of the main reasons some people have a hard time shooting a shotgun is- 1 the shotgun doesnt fit, and 2nd they cant keep there eyes of the barrel. And 3rd the gun doesnt fit and they cant keep there eyes off the barrel. Lee

I haven't seriously considered sanding down the comb of a synthetic stock. I know it's feasible, but would require you to fill in any gaps created by sanding through to the interior with JB Weld, or some other epoxy material, then finish over it. I know some guys have used the rattle can truck bed liner to spray their guns. It doesn't leave a textured finish and is quite durable. If I had to sand mine down to get it to fit, that's what I would do to finish it back to black. Or, you could just paint the whole gun, as I did.

Five shots, four geese. Closest was about 35 yards, jumped out of the decoys, the rest were passing shots at 40 - 45. All sustained lead ..... saw the front sight every time.

I've got a Detective that's having problems with his bead sight 870 shooting to the right. I've thought about modifying the stock, this just reinforces my idea.

Has he checked for eye dominance problems? You know, left handed, but right eye dominant, or converse?

If he is aiming the shotgun like a rifle ....... putting the bead in the center of the groove in the top of the receiver (assuming the gun doesn't have rifle sights), it should hit to point of aim, although the elevation may be off, up or down.

If he is shooting instinctively and has no eye dominance problems, changing the sight won't make a difference ..... but getting the gun to fit him properly can.

Could you give me a little more info on how to do this? Do I just take the stock off and add a few washers and put it back on?

Hey Guys
I have a Benelli SBE 3.5 and I have always shot low and to the left. Now I am sure it just me and the fit of the stock to cheak,I have changed shims and all that stuff and cant slove that problem so I give up.These old eyes are getting tired and I think I have sloved my problem.
Burris has a new product for 2008 its called The Speed Bead its made for shotguns and for wing shooters so I ordered one.I talked to tech at Burris and they think its going to be BIG.Cost about 225.00 If you can get one because they are just comming out of production.
Just wait till my duck hunting buddies see this.

If your shotgun shoots left, when you shoot off hand, it often is an indication that the stock is too long for you. Shoot if off a bench, sand bagged, with your bead straight down the center of the rib. Does it still shoot left? If not, then it's a gun fit issue ..... stock too long or needing some cast off, being the two most likely causes.

It can also mean you need some "cast off" in your butt stock. That moves the stock to the right and does the same to your eye, (your rear sight) moving the point of impact to the right.

Many times, if you can shorten the stock somewhat, that "left shooting" phenomena will stop. If it shoots low, you can add a comb riser to raise your eye level. I often use the ones sold under the name, "Cheekeez" which are peel and stick sorbothane pads. Precision Reloading carries them and they are sold in thickness from 1/16" up to 1/4 or 3/8?

Here's a link which may help explain things. The washers go between the wood and the recoil pad, to change the angle of the pad, relative to the shoulder.
