My far sightedness and thermal?

Having not used any kind of thermal or smart nv scopes got me to thinking about the possibility of problems for my eyes. As I age lately I’ve noticed my close up vision is terrible. With these scopes essentially being a screen that you are looking at up very close I am wondering if I’ll even be able to focus? Also they don’t have much for eye relief so would rather not have to wear glasses.

Anyone else have this problem and does the diopter take care of it?

I wear glasses and found that I could use the eye piece to focus the scope, both with and without my glasses. The problem is if I don't wear my glasses I can't see my remote. I ended up getting a thermal scope to use as a scanner as it has more eye relief. I think the eye relief of 40-60mm is good if you wear glasses but 14-16mm is not good with glasses. I think the Hogster's are 40mm so should work with or without glasses. I use the Wraith NV on my gun and have no problems with glasses

I wear glasses all the time and have not had any problems at all. I think you will be fine. The scope has both an eyepiece focus and the image focus, so you will be able to adjust your scope for your eyes with glasses on. I use both a Helion scanner and Trail scope and don't have any issues...my glasses are no line bifocal as well.

I too wear eyeglasses and don’t have any problems with my Apex XQ38 thermal. One trend that I have been critical of lately is the trend for shorter eye relief scopes, specifically Pulsar. The new models have less than the older ones. Like Why mentioned, 14-16mm such as with scanners, is not good for eyeglass wearers. As much as ATN is disliked by many, they have listened to hunters and have more eye relief in the newer models vs. the older ones, yet Pulsar went the opposite direction with both eye relief and increased magnification.

In the last year I now need both far and close vision correction. I can take the cups off my Trigicon scope and reap Ir I use as a monocular. This works just fine there’s a focus on both units. If I wear my contacts which I prefer I use the eye cups and the only problem now is I can’t see the fox pro remote screen 😠
