My introduction to the AR platform

Boy, do I know your dilema, Owen. I had hunted exclusively w/Dtech 243WSSM when landowner banned AR's on his property. I first switched to a savage scout, as it was short, like the AR; can't tell you how many times I completely failed to chamber a round or short shucked it and missed an opportunity for second shot. That and the pistol grip fit my hunting position much better than conventional stock. Only SA I could find to fill the void was a BAR, which barely fulfills my accuracy requirements for a calling rifle and I still haven't found a way to straighten out the pistol grip shortfall.

May have to alter the BAR stock like I did the Scout, but hoping to get used to the straighter stock at this point in time.

Man, I wish this had been available back in 2017 when landowner banned the AR's. With a flush magazine, a bit of camo, and/or maybe shortening the handquard, I might have been able to convince him this was not an AR. :ROFLMAO: Guess I'm gonna just have to be satisfied w/the BAR, at my age, if and when I get back after them, but thanks for the link, interesting concept.

The whole purpose of them coming out with that rifle was for people who wanted to use an AR, but wanted it to look like a regular rifle.

They did a pretty darn good job of that. One thing for sure, it'll make the gun grabbers work harder to define the imaginary "assault rifle" and Que Mala will have to change her tune about banning AR's or assault rifles.

I've watched a few YouTube videos on them. I like them, but I don't see a $2,000 rifle.

Speaking of shooting prone. Which I favor the most of all shooting styles. Many years ago I bought a Versa Pod Model 1 bipod. I love it. It pans/tilts/pitches & yaws. Without having to lift the rifle/bipod from the ground/snow cover. During crusty snow cover. The bipod feet would not gain a good footing. So I riveted (2) 2x2" galvanized sheet metal onto the bipod feet. Then I ran (2) 1" metal screws into the pan feet. To gain a firm footing on ice covered snow. Doing that works well.
